Eddie's POV
"Earth to Eddie."
I snapped my head up, Mary Ann was waving a hand in my face.
I groaned and smacked it away, "why aren't you reading your book?"
"My eyes are getting goofy from reading for too long," she complained, "now please can we discuss your mopey behavior?"
I rolled my eyes, I had decided to sit next to Mary Ann at lunch again. Richie was being an ass so I didn't want to sit with him. Stan was sitting by him again and Bill too, but Laura was no where to be seen. For some reason that made me feel better.
"Eddie?" Mary Ann snapped her fingers in me face.
"Sorry," I muttered, "I'm not mopey," I argued.
"He said with a sad pouty face," she was pushing her bottom lip out. I again was reminded of how much she looked like Richie.
I didn't say anything so she continued being annoying, "what's up with you and the big four eyes over there?"
What was she talking about?
"Seriously dude," she pressed further, "you too keep looking back at each other when the other is looking away, what happened?"
I was red, "nothing," I muttered.
She gave me an unbelieving look.
"We used to be friends, but things got...complicated," things did get complicated. We fought a killer clown in the sewers and now things are weird.
"Oh..." she looked at me now with a sort of appreciative glance.
"I understand," she seemed quieter now, "better than anyone else probably."
What the fuck did that mean?
I just nodded awkwardly, "thanks?"
"I have an idea," her eyes lit up, "I can help you."
"Help me with what?"
"Dude!" she slammed her hand on the table, "with your friend over there, I can help you guys get back together!"
"Really?" I was smiling now.
"Of course you dipshit!" She looked excited.
"How?"
"By dating you of course," she was delusional, "fake dating, we both know we would never work out," she winked.
The hell?
How will that help?
I looked over at Richie, I really wanted to be friends with him again.
And I trusted Mary Ann, she seemed smart. Maybe she knew something I didn't.
So I nodded, "Ok, but how does this help you?"
Then Mary Ann got all fidgety, "well...I want to fix my relationship I have with someone too.."
"You have an ex-best friend too?"
"Uh...yeah...a friend I guess..."
"Some pair we are," I muttered.
Mary Ann grinned again, "cheers to that."
------
short chapter...
But it's more fun I guess. A lead up chapter if you will.
More angst to come I promise. I may also include scenes from my other book that were reddie.
