Eddie's POV
"I should kiss you now, right?" I asked as Mary Ann sat right next to me at the lunch table.
She looked up from her book at me and groaned, "fine, but make it quick."
I rolled my eyes at her grumbles, "I'm a good kisser," I whined.
As if to prove it I kissed her cheek sweetly.
"Dude, you're just kissing my cheek which you've been doing every five minutes all of lunch and it's quite annoying," she wiped her cheek like I gave her a disease. As if, "plus, you are not my type."
It struck me as odd that she didn't like nerds despite being one herself.
She did have a point though. We had been fake dating for two days now and I still hadn't kissed her lips once.
The thought honestly disgusted me. Her lips were always glossed over with some sticky strawberry balm and I did not want that to be smeared on mine.
Despite that feeling, Mary Ann was my friend. When I first met her I had been attracted to her, definitely. She was pretty and cute and quirky, but overall, she was just too much like a sister to me than anything. She reminded me of Bev, despite looking like Richie.
I looked back at Richie, he was still sitting with Stan and Bill. But his head was downcast, he looked rough.
He turned to look at me and I instantly turned to look at Mary Ann.
"Kiss me," I said.
"Again?" she groaned.
"On the lips this time," I looked pleadingly into her eyes, "please?"
She sighed, "pucker up quickly, while Richie's still watching."
I turned slightly pink as she exposed me but focused on kissing her.
I could do it.
I nervously glanced at her glossy lips then back up into her eyes.
She rolled her eyes and motioned me to kiss her.
So I placed my hands gently on either side of her face and leaned in.
Her lips were sticky and gross. But also soft. My eyes were squeezed shut as we pecked quickly.
The kiss lasted about five seconds before I pulled away and tried to look in love.
I glanced over at Richie, he was still looking at me. He had seen the kiss.
Hopefully this meant I was cool enough to be friends with him again.
I really hoped it was enough because god.
That was awful.
