"So how are you and Clara?" McKenzie asked later, once they'd dropped her back at Coal Hill.

"We're good," Wanda replied, shrugging. "I'm not sure what we are exactly, but it's good."

McKenzie frowned. "Have you talked about it?"

"Well, we kind of had a date after the whole thing with the Time War, I guess," Wanda answered, thinking back. "And I stayed the night."

"You did!" McKenzie grinned. "That's wonderful! Did you, er... fondue?"

Wanda rolled her eyes. "Steve Rogers is clearly a bad influence on you."

"Well?"

"Okay, yes."

McKenzie squealed. "You have to talk to her! Go out for dinner or something!"

"I will," Wanda assured her. "But not right this second, okay? Clint's going to want to hear all about Robin Hood first."

"Back home, then, is it?" the Doctor asked from the doorway.

"Please," Wanda smiled. "And can I not be gone for six months this time? I wouldn't want to deprive Piet of the chance to kill me after our Jenga game last week."

The Doctor hesitated. "Oh, you want an accurate landing... Kez?"

McKenzie snorted. "I'm all over it."

Just as they were sitting down to dinner, they heard the TARDIS engines. "Oh, that must be Wanda," Steve realised, getting back up to grab her a plate. "Tell her, would you, Piet?"

"Let me just commit a quick murder first," Pietro said, disappearing into a blur.

Zosia raised her eyebrows. "Okay... which game did he lose this time?"

"Jenga," Zoë replied, smiling fondly. "One day, he'll just challenge her to a race and be done with it."

Once they'd dropped Wanda back at the new compound, McKenzie sighed, feeling the Doctor's eyes on her. "What?"

"Nothing," he said innocently. "Nice to see you taking an interest in the kids' lives."

McKenzie rolled her eyes at him. "I am not a control freak."

"Of course not!" He put his arms around her from behind, kissing the crown of her head. "You're just a magnificently well-organised psychopath with a very maternal nature."

She grinned. "Better."
