(a/n): Song to the side is If You Could See me Now by the Script. If you can't view it on Wattpad, watch it on YouTube, but watch it after you read the end of the chapter, because it will make more sense then. But I recommend you listen to it!
Beckett's POV.
I couldn't breathe.
Why was this happening to me? What had I done in a previous lifetime to get this?
-10 mins earlier-
"Beckett, honey, sit down. There's something we need to tell you," my mum said as I walked in the front door, frustrated from seeing Ally today and everything that happened before and after I gave her the letter her parents wrote.
I sat down across from them and that's when my mum suddenly burst into tears.
"Mum? Mum what's wrong?"
"First off, let me just tell you how sorry we are. But we thought it was time to tell you."
"What?"
"We.. uh. Um you're.. err.." my dad trailed off.
"You're adopted, we're not your real parents," My dad finally said.
My mum cried even harder and buried her face into my dad's neck while he put his arms around her.
- End of Flashback-
Why? What had I done?
These people had raised me since I was a baby.
And now this?
"W- um. Where are my biological parents?"
Suddenly, my mum's breath hitched and the room became silent. Please, don't say those three words.
"They've passed away."
Goddammit.
I stood up and quickly ran out of the room, yanking the front door open, not bothering to shut it and ran all the way to the studio, almost getting hit by two cars in the process.
I stumbled into the studio and asked for a random room. I grabbed the key from John and sprinted down the hall.
I was almost at the room when someone came out from room 5.Ally.
"Beckett, are you okay?"
"No..." I whispered and my voice broke.
"What's wrong? I still owe you that five minutes, c'mon, let's go get something to eat."
"Okay."
-----
"... And that's my sob story."
"It's not a sob story, Beckett. It's a trouble that you need to get off your chest that you need someone to listen to it."
I chuckled humourlessly and looked Ally in the eye.
"Your turn."
She groaned and said:
"What do you want to know?"
I leaned forward in my seat and looked at her.
"Why are you so convinced that I hate you at school?"
"Because, I know you do. You literally said it to my face, six months ago in the hallway. You said, and I quote, "No one wants you. No one likes you. I'm at the top of that list. I hate you with every fibre of my being."
I couldn't remember saying that.
But then again, I don't remember half the shit I just told Ally, so...
"Okay, next question. Why do you wear a disguise at school? I mean, it's the only logical thing I can think of, because, I mean, none, and I mean NONE of the photos at school have you in it, and don't say you must have been away or some shit like that, because I checked, every single person is in that book. So back to the question. Why the disguise?"
"Well... I... I have a semi- dark history and I just had had enough and came back one year as a new me and thought, I have a second chance at being the girl people were proud of. I had to make it worth while. But then the bullying started and things didn't go quite as planned..." she trailed off.
"I'm sorry.. I don't know who you are at school, but I'm sorry for whatever I have done."
"It's fine."
"I don't believe you."
"You should."
"But I don't."
"Whatever.." Ally grumbled.
"Look, I should probably head home, my parents will probably wonder where I am."
"Okay."
"But thank you, Ally. For listening to me, and for answering my questions."
"Any time."
I sighed and turned around, heading towards my home.
----------
I got home and the living room and kitchen lights were on, and I could smell my favourite dinner meal, home made pizza.
I walked into the kitchen and just leaned against the wall and crossed my arms, watching my parents with a smile on my face.
My mum was at the bench cutting up the pizzas and my dad stood behind her with his arms around her waist and his chin on her shoulder.
That, I hate to admit but it's true, I wanted that some day. My arms around the woman I loved and our children running around the living room or watching tv or something while we prepared dinner.
"Smells amazing," my dad mumbled.
My mum looked up at him with adoration in her eyes and pecked my dad on the lips, and soon noticed me.
"Beckett..." She said and I gave her a small smile and waved at them, commenting on how good the food looked.
"Dinner's just about ready if you want some."
"Who could turn down your famous homemade pizza, mum?" I asked and then laughed, and was soon joined by my parents.
Biological or not, this was my family.
