7. Calabasas

Shane's POV

I looked in the back seat and see Jade peacefully sleeping with her good pulled over her head with headphones in. I sighed and looked forward. Ryland grabbed my hand and turned off the radio, I'm guessing to spark a conversation.

"Are you okay babe?" He asked me with concern in his voice.
"No. No I'm not babe. I'm worried about Jade." I replied with brokenness in my voice giving Ryland a tighter grip.

"Shane.. Shes gonna be okay." Not turning his attention away from the road. "She is strong. And we don't even know her full story."

I sighed, "That's the problem. I wasn't there for her. You heard what my mom said, she practically screamed it." I ran my hand through my hair completely frustrated by everything.

"She didn't even wanna move. She hates me and is furious with me. This isn't gonna make things better.. I'm afraid." Confessing my feelings I've kept bottled up over the years.

I continued on wanting to get everything off my my chest while Jade was sleeping.

"I'm afraid this will make things worse. I don't know how she's gonna react with our friends, and Morgan also living with us."

"Shane. Everything happens for a reason okay? This is will work great. And I have no doubt in my mind that Morgan and Jade will get along. They're around the same age."

I shushed him at the sound of Jade, I looked back and made sure she wasn't awake. She wasn't, she just moved to get more comfortable while sleeping.

"Look. Babe, all I'm saying is she will be okay. I love you okay? And I know deep down Jade loves you too. It's gonna be a struggle.. but we will all get through it." He finished saying pulling into our drive way.

We got out and I was about to wake up Jade but Ryland stopped me. "I'll wake her up. You get our things." He kissed me on the cheek and I grabbed our things and made my way inside.

Jade's POV

Feeling someone lightly shake me and calling my name I woke up too see Ryland smiling. "We're here Jade."

"Oh" yawning I took my headphones out my ears and hopped out the Jeep. "That was a good sleep." I went to the back of the Jeep and saw my things weren't there.

"Ryland were is my things?" I gave him a puzzled look, "Shane took all our things inside. I said I'll wake you up." He smiled again. He is such a caring person when he barely knows me.

"Gotcha." I started making my way inside before turning back and giving Ryland a hug.

He hugged back, "Woah, kiddo. What's this for?" I looked up at him being a foot shorter than him.  

"I-I just.. I wanted to give you a hug. I know I'm not the easier person to live with, my mother wouldn't admit but i will. I'm complicated, depressed, I have issues. And... my relationship with Shane isn't the best. I can't stand being around him.. but I'm gonna try my best to work on it." I smiled at him pulling away.
