one month laterKeith entered the kitchen in his pajamas, bags under his eyes, and a blanket wrapped around his shoulders.
"Keith." Adam was in the middle of pouring himself a glass of water; after checking the time, he gave a warped smile. "...good afternoon. Almost evening."
"Mm," was all Keith could muster. Ever since he got back, he didn't really have the mental capacity to speak. Sure, he gave responses, but there weren't a lot actual words being produced.
"How did you sleep?"
He shrugged. "Fine."
"That's good. Nightmares haven't come back, right?"
He shook his head.
During the first week of being back in town, Keith was constantly startled awake with nightmares. Whether it involved the storm, being cut in the leg, run-ins with a shark... losing Lance; there was always something Keith couldn't bear to witness anymore, resulting in a huge lack sleep.
"Hey! The elusive Keith has been spotted!" Shiro came through the front door with a few bags of groceries. "Thought you wouldn't show up until dinner."
Keith gave another shake of the head.
There was a brief moment of silence, until Adam gulped down the sip of water he took. "Takashi, why don't you start cutting the vegetables? I can prep the salmon."
Shiro sighed heavily, heading into the kitchen. "Sure."
Not wanting to be a bother (but mostly wanting to return to bed), Keith turned around and headed back to his room.
"I'm worried about him." Keith stopped in his tracks when he heard Shiro muttering, leaning against the wall.
"I know. I am too."
"I just thought it'd all be over by now."
"It's only been a month, Takashi."
"Yes, I know that, but when he stopped having those nightmares, I figured everything would be okay again."
"He was stranded out there for two weeks. He probably would've been traumatized if it was a day, let alone two weeks!"
"Why are you yelling at me?"
"I'm not yelling at you."
"Kay then, you're reaching that point where you start yelling."
"I'm not yelling."
"Alright. Just sounds like you're getting mad."
"I'm not mad."
"Okay."
"I just think you're being unreasonable!"
"Lord," Shiro sighed.
"He was out there, all alone, surrounded by the ocean, the one thing he's been terrified of ever since your parents passed away, and you're over here just expecting him to be okay? As if it never happened?"
"I don't expect anything from him."
"Yes you do, otherwise we wouldn't be having this argument."
"You're the only one arguing here, Adam. It takes two people to have an argument."
"You started it, that's one, and you started it with me, that's two."
"Adam-"
