You swooped down to Chase's house and knocked on the door. Your heart beat elevated as the door opened. "Chase! Hey! Sorry but your coming with me on a journey. And we might die. And you cant say no." You rambled and then stopped yourself seeing that it wasnt Chase but his mother. She gave a warm, forced, smile and let you in.
"Chase? Chase, dear, Leona is here." "Okay Mom!" You nervously looked around. "So Ms. Ember, how are you?" She sighed, "I'm getting along, sweetie. Thank you. Now what was all that rambling about outside?" You chuckle nervously and scratch the back of your neck.
"Leona! Heyyy!" You look up to see Chase slide down the stair banister and nearly fall, catching on to your hips. Your face turned red as he unlatched and got up. "So! What adventure lies in store for the Three Tines Two Wings?" You groan, "Six. Six Wings, Chase." He shrugged. "That's what I said." You roll your eyes then hug Ms. Ember goodbye and took Chase outside and explained what was going to happen.
He looked cheerful until now. His face became worried. "I dont want to go back there. That's where-" You cut him off, "You dont really have a choice, Chase." They had been childhood friends, raised in the North. The darkness spread and took his father.
"Poppy and Jackie are coming too." He looked disappointed in you. Stopping in your tracks, you sighed. "Look, Chase, I didnt have a choice either. I was just called upon a hour or two ago. We will leave in the morning." You hug him tightly and he gives a reassuring smile. "Its going to be okay. We will return." You told him. Yet you weren't so sure yourself.
As you curled up in your bed, thoughts began to swarm your head. Were you going to live? What happened to the King? What will happen with Chase? And Poppy? And Jackie...Questions to which the answers lied in the future.
