Chapter 20

Oliver's eyes fluttered open. He groaned and tried to move but the ropes around him only grew tighter. As he realized he was tied up, he struggled to undo the bonds holding him. You emerged from the shadows and stared at him. "You lied to me, Oliver." He looked up at you, anger in his eyes. "I did no such thing." You roll your eyes and take out the necklace he hypnotized you with. "Yes, yes you did. Now, how does this work? You just swing it back and forth right?" He looked down avoiding eye contact. You grab him by the hair and pull his head up making him look at the swinging necklace. "Tell me why you betrayed me." He groaned and shook his head. You let go of his hair and looked at Jackie. "Is it finished yet?" She nodded and gave you a small vile of the truth serum. You pull his head back and force his mouth open, pouring the serum down his throat. He spat some of it out and it nearly got on you but you dodged it, mostly. "Why did you lie to me!?" He smiled and chuckled, "My master needed you."

You stare at him in confusion, "Who's your master?" He shakes his head and you pinch the bridge fo your nose. "Tell me Oliver." He starts laughing maniacally, and you look towards Jackie. "The truth serum isn't working." Jackie looked at Oliver as he stopped laughing and yelled out. "You can torture me all you want! IM NOT SAYING SH*T!" You run your hands through your hair, "Damnit." Oliver hangs his head and continues to chuckle. "What the hell are we going to do?" You sit on a rock nearby and stare at Oliver, your heart aching. "Do you think he'd lead us to wherever he is going? Whoever this master is, he must be expecting him soon." 

Jackie shrugged and you're forced to pace around then glancing at Oliver briefly, an idea pops into your head. "What if we gave him something he wants?" Jackie stared at you confused, "Like what? Doesn't everything he want impossible to get?" You shake your head and lead Jackie aside. "His wings. Surely he wants to remember what its like to fly?" Jackie nodded slowly, "Its worth a try. If not, we need a plan B." You nod and walk over to Oliver and firmly place your hand on his chin, forcing him to look up at you. "Broken wings. Isn't it a pity? Just from obedience, you got everything that makes you one of us taken away." Oliver's eyes go dark and you can practically see his thoughts boiling up inside his mind. "Wouldn't you want those back? You take us there, and Jackie will make you a new wing. But, there is a catch," Oliver sighs through his nose. "Isn't there always." His voice seems raspy and you try to not allow him to see the pity in his eyes. "We kill your master, and you if you dont comply." He gives you a charming smirk, and nods. "So murder, for murder, all for a wing." You nod, and let go of his chin. His head hangs for a bit as he stares at the ground. "Im in." You smile, "Good choice. Jackie untie him." She nods and cuts his bonds loose. 

He stretches and pops his knuckles, rolling his neck back. "Sitting is exhausting isn't it?" You roll your eyes, "Where do we go?" He points in the direction of a large mountain and you signal to the rest of the group. "Lets go fix the world, I guess." You mumble as you and your group start again the trip towards the plague, and Oliver's master.
