Chapter 9: Tucked Away

   You woke up in Chases arms, you get up slowly and smile. Giving him a kiss on the forehead, you get up and go outside of the cave. Looks like the first snow had come. You shiver then look back into the cave. Everyone looked so peaceful. Looking out into the horizon then up the mountain, you spot something. Smoke. It looked pretty close, a hour hike most likely.

    You grab your backpack, and nearly head out but you hear Chase mumble your name. You look back and he was stumbling towards you. He looked ill. You drop your backpack and rush to him. Seeing a bite on his leg, you realise that a snake bit him. You grab a bottle and lay him down. It was fresh, luckily, you place the bottle on the bite mark and use something else to help suction it. It got a lot of blood out and hopefully the venom hadn't gone into his bloodstream yet. You had to get to the village.

   Waking up Poppy and Jackie, you start up the mountain, going as fast as you dared. You reach the gates of the village, and frantically knock on the gate. "Someone help us! My friend has been bitten by a snake!" No response. You try again. And again. After 10 minutes of screaming, the gates opened slowly. You rush in and a medic comes up to you and takes Chase away.

   You pace back and forth outside of the clinic. Poppy walked up to you, "Leona? Hey, hes going to be okay.." You nod then continue pacing. She grabs you by the shoulders and hug you tightly. You burst into tears. You couldn't lose him. Not again.

    When the medic let you in, Chase was on a table, chained down. The medic explained it was for his fits. Fits?Chase never told you about those. He opened his eyes slightly and you tear up. He was okay. You unchain him and hug him tightly. He smiles softly. "That was a nice nap." You chuckle and then look at him, your hands around his cheek. And kiss him. He nearly melts in your touch. You pull away and blush, he looks down and snickers. "You've wanted to do that for a while, havent you?" You crack up and laugh, nodding.

   Poppy rushed in and Jackie stood outside, glaring at you and everyone else. Then left. You look up to catch her leaving. You remembered the vision, shivered, then focused back on Poppy, and Chase.
