Christmas Eve Pt 2

Melina POV:

We all sat anxiously in the waiting room, no updates had been given to us from Ben or Jordyn. Maddie sat cuddled up in my lap while I ran my fingers through her hair.

"Meena, how is Santa going to find us if we are here at the hospital instead of at the house?" Maddie asked me.

"I'm sure we will be back at our house before Santa has time to get to us! We won't be here much longer hopefully." I said.

"But what if we aren't home in time! Santa might think we moved and not know where to leave our presents! And I have to make sure Santa gets the gift I left him!" Maddie said.

"I'm sure if we are still here then Santa will know to leave your gifts here." I said hugging her.

"But what about his gift?" Maddie asked.

"If we end up having to get stuck here, then we can make one of the uncles go get it and bring it here for him." I reassured her. It was already 9 o clock at night...we needed some news. Sky was asleep on Kinsley who also had Gabi asleep on her while Carmen was playing cards with Josh, Parker, and Timmy because for some reason Josh just happened to have a pack of cards in his pocket...I'm not even questioning it. I really just wish Lucas would here. How could he just ditch us like this? I get it it's not his family...but he lives with us? I just thought he cared more.

"Cook family?" A lady with a clipboard said coming out of the doors. We all instantly jumped to our feet.

"Any news?" Josh said.

"You all are allowed to go back and see him, but only family. The rest of you all can come back tomorrow during visiting hours." She said. None of moved a muscle. "You can't all possibly be family."

"Unfortunately we are." I said.

"Do the matching pajamas not give it away?" Timmy laughed.

"You know what, I'm too tired to care. Follow me." she said. I picked Maddie up in my arms and we all followed her through the large doors. We went through a twist of hallways until finally we reached a room where the nurse opened a door.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Maddie screamed as soon as we got in the room.

"Hi baby!" Jordyn said taking Maddie from my arms.

"What's going on?" Josh asked.

"The doctors don't know. They are trying to get his fever to come down but it's still at 105." Ben said. He stood by the side of the crib, rubbing Peytons forehead.

"Is he going to be ok?" I asked nervously.

"We don't know." Ben said. The room went quiet until we were interrupted by a doctor entering the room. He stopped at the door and looked at all of us confused.

"Please don't even comment on the pajamas." Parker said.

"Noted. How's he doing?" the doctor asked Ben.

"He's sleeping right now but he still feels hot." Ben said.

"As long as his fever isn't increasing then we shouldn't be too worried right now." The doctor said walking over to him and feeling his head. "But it looks like he's gonna have to stay here overnight."

"But it's Christmas!" Maddie said.

"Thank doctor." Jordyn said.

"Of course." He said and left.

"So we are spending Christmas in a hospital? Fun." I said.

"No, you guys are gonna home and sleep there. There's no need for all of us to be here." Ben said.
