"Good morning Mr. Morgan," Jennifer said cherry as usual

"Good morning Ms. Aclow," he responded as he whooshed past her desk "Join me"

Jennifer got up and fell in with his stride notepad and pencil in hand he quickly seated himself behind his desk and Jennifer stood on the opposite side awaiting her instructions.

Pulling out his laptop he began a list of demands for the day, what he needed to accomplish and who he needed to see, which meetings should be set up at what time and who he did not need to see "and finally if Diana Jones is here get her in my office immediately. That's all for now, thank you Ms. Aclow"

+++++++

His day began in a whirl and by the third meeting update, he'd had his full but kept going as he was determined to achieve his entire list in this one day.

Diana had not shown up and he had not tried calling, he wouldn't put pressure on her because he hadn't yet formed the words he needed to face her without letting his rage show.

Nathalie had made a point yesterday and he knew that he had to make some changes to keep her.

The day had come to an end and he sat at his desk cognizant of the fact that Diana never came he strolled out to Jennifer's desk and she looked up surprised "Jennifer, is Diana here and did you give her my message"

"I did, sir. She's been here all day, but she only said she'd be up in a bit I thought you'd spoken with her already"

"No she hasn't" He looked to the elevator "splendiferous," he said to himself then noticed Jennifer was packing up as he turned back in her direction "Are you leaving?" he asked looking at his watch to note the time

"Yes" she nodded continuing to tidying her desk

"Well, enjoy your evening,"

He continued to the elevator to head down to Diana's floor it was already six when he walked through the elevator doors on the 39th floor of his office building at this time the office was somewhat sparse and only those who excelled at what they did were still around.

It was a rare sight to see the 40th floor CEO walk these halls everyone came to visit him upstairs so his stroll was met with some curious stares and some unheard 'ohs' of amazement but he acknowledged no-one and was certain this would be the best dressing for tomorrow's lunchroom salads.

He knocked on Diana's door before he entered her secretary was not present and had probably left for the day which Charles saw as a blessing this was a conversation better had in private.

Diana didn't answer to the knock that came at her door and as he entered she wheeled her chair around to face him sitting reservedly behind her desk as if she'd been expecting him all day.

She looked at the clock on her wall clearly noticing that it took him until six in the afternoon to come to find her and it dawned on him that this is what she'd wanted and it infuriated him.

"Charles"

"Diana"

"I've been so busy sorry I couldn't make it up today I thought you would've messaged me for my update"

Scorecard point one to Diana Jones he mentally saluted her for a game well played. He was a fly in her trap and he'd have to even the score.

She looked at him in silence and he matched it while he considered his options unbuttoning his tailored blue pinstripe three-piece suite exposing the light blue satin sewn inside he raised his shoulders upright never once losing eye contact with her form his perch on high waiting for her to start but she refused to give him the satisfaction.
