42/ I want you to be happy, bubba

China

"Cam.. no one is home and Dove can't come over because she's working.. can I come to your house?" I asked over the phone.

"Of course! Your room hasn't changed one bit. It just smells like a haunted house though. Let me tell Saffie that you're coming over." Cam cheered through the phone.

"Okay I'll be over there in a few minutes." I hung up and started packing a few of my things. Tonight freaked me out on another level and I didn't want to be alone. My phone started ringing again but this time it was Brenna.

"Hello?" I answered.

"It's the same dude!" She exclaimed over the phone.

"What are you talking about, Bren? Are you okay?" I asked.

"The dude that attacked Lauryn. It's the same dude from a couple summers ago. The one I tried to set you up with." She explained. The memories. The fear. The anxiety. It started to come back and I didn't know if I wanted to leave the house anymore. I was terrified all over again. "Chi, you there?"

"I'll call you later, Bren." I hung up and I went upstairs and hid in my closet. I didn't want to be here alone but I also didn't want to go outside. I don't know how long I was in there before I heard someone come in my house. I was crying and shaking out of fear.

"China?" They came in my room and I covered my ears and started rocking myself.

"GO AWAY!" I screamed. I could hear the footsteps right in front of my closet and my door was opened.

"Chi." Cameron leaned down, "it's just me." He sat beside me and hugged me.

"I'm sorry." I sobbed, "I'm just afraid. I wanna go home."

"Chi, look at me. I'm here and no one is going to hurt you. I'm sorry." He whispered.

"How did you know I was here?" I asked.

"You didn't show up and Brenna called and told me everything and well, here I am." He said with a warm smile.

"I don't want to leave this closet." I whispered, trying my best to breathe.

"You don't have to but as long as you're here so am I."

"Cam, this isn't what taj meant when he said to take care of his girl." I chuckled.

"I thought you weren't his girl?" He shot back, "either way you're my best friend and I don't like seeing you like this." He said sadly. My heart was racing but I couldn't tell if it was because I'm scared or because I'm still so fucking in love with Cameron.

        "Here.. I'll go get pillows and blankets so         we can lay in here." He smiled.

"No." I took a deep breath. "We can go lay on the bed." I slowly got up and sat down on the bed, "do you know if they caught him?" I asked.

"I don't know. Brenna didn't say but I'll be right here until you kick me out."

"Can never kicking you out be an option?" I asked.

Next morning

"You're fucking kidding me, right?" Saffie said sadly, "she hasn't even been back for a week and you literally just told me a few days ago that you didn't see you two ever happening again." She started to cry.

"Hey gu- oh there's tears I'll be in the living room." Maya interrupted.

"Are you going to say anything or are you just going to give me a blank stare." Saffie snapped.

"You're acting like I'm breaking up with you!" I  groaned.

"You literally just told me you still had feelings for China and she's all you can think about. We kinda are breaking up, Cameron." Saffie started giggling while crying.

"I told you because I'm confused and I'm not going to tell her because she's with taj and she's still healing." I sighed.

"But I don't want to be with you when you're still thinking about someone else." Saffie explained, "Listen, I'm not going to do what I did last year, okay? If china is who you want to be with then be with her."

"But Taj-"

"TAJ KNOWS!" Saffie yelled. "Ask Karan! He even had a conversation with him about it two days ago. He knows, Cam."

"I don't understand."

"I love you and I always will but do yourself a favor and go get China but don't fuck anything up this time." She kissed my cheek, "I will never love anyone like I have loved you." She said sadly before walking out of my room.

I pulled out my phone to call Taj when Maya and Karan came in the room.

"Yo! When did you and Taj have a discussion?" I asked.

"Damn, Saffie wasn't suppose to tell you about that." Karan sighed, "Listen man. Taj knows your history. He knows China won't be a forever thing because you two are in love with each other. Now, if you fuck things up like eight months ago there probably won't be a future for You and China but at least go get her now."  Karan explained.

"Don't be a dumbass." Maya sighed.

"Oh, Thank you. Great advice." I rolled my eyes as I called Taj.

"Hey, Cam! What's up."

"Hey.." I paused, "Can we talk."

"Ah.. I had a feeling this conversation would be coming soon. I'll be over there in fifteen minutes."

"Sounds good. Love you."

"Love you too." He hung up and I began to pace. What if Taj beats me up? What if China  doesn't want to give me a chance? What if things don't work out with China? What if--

"Is your dumbass really overthinking?" Maya asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"I have a lot to overthink about." I sighed.

"Cameron. I love you, a lot. I'm going to be nice this once okay? You are my best friend and sometimes I get jealous when I hear you call China your best friend but you two are meant to be together. CHINA is YOUR person, and I have never seen your smile so bright unless you're with her. I don't think you realize how special your relationship is with her and I just want you to be happy, Bubba. Go be happy." Maya hugged me tightly.

"I love you." I whispered.

"I love you too Assface."
