Chapter Sixteen: Forbidden

I reached home safely, encountering the same looks I received when I walked in with a drenched dress the last time I was with Eric. They watched me curiously as I walked on the tile-floor, making my way upstairs.

Last time, I was tired of Eric and once I fell into the lake, I frowned at him since he was laughing at my fall. My feelings for him were different. Now, I fell into the lake with him and with that we almost kissed. Right now, I really wished I had kissed him, it's been something I've wanted to do for a while now.

I closed myself in my room as the mixed feelings started to come alive again.

One thing I thought suddenly was that Eric wanted to kiss me too. It was quite obvious, like a sign on the road; a neon sign. His eyes said it too, he wanted to and so did I.

So what left me, holding on the ends of the rope was the following: Did he like me back the way I do?

I took a quick shower, using my coconut scented shampoo which was my favorite. I detangled my hair as I brushed it from the ends making my way up. I sat down next to the vanity mirror as I made sure my hair was dry and combed.

Then, I changed my dress into a midnight blue colored dress, and what I loved about it was that it gave me a shape, a figure I suppose. Not that I didn't have one, but it highly defined it.

Once my hair started to curl in naturally, I decided to head downstairs for "delayed" lunch, since the four of us missed it. I wasn't sure how my mother would react, but as long as my Father was there, he would settle things down.

I skipped towards the dining room and saw my Mother, Father, Lucy, Daniel...and Eric...sitting down. My Mother saw me walk in with utter awkwardness as I strode towards a seat the farthest from Eric.

I wasn't late, but my Mother didn't look happy.

"Sit." she ordered me. I quietly did as told. My Father then gave my Mother a look which said 'stop it.'

"Darling, leave the young ladies and gentlemen alone. They are young and having fun, is it such a crime to be late to lunch?" he asked her.

She shook her head. "Artimus, it's crucial to be on time to family meals! This isn't excusable." she exclaimed.

"Honey, the Parade has our timing to change for all of us. You must understand them. It's just lunch darling, please. Now let's move and let them enjoy their meal." My Mother grumbled but then sighed as my Father gave her his hand to hold.

"Have a good lunch." My Father said with a deep-intimidating voice as he pulled on my Mother away from us. I smiled, just watching them was...interesting. No matter on how far they were on opposite ends, they somehow came together and saw eye to eye.

The cooks then ushered out the trays with the happiest expression on their faces. They placed our meals in front before exiting the room and leaving us four to ourselves. This was just awkward, I wished the ground could just swallow me. I tried not to let my eyes wander, knowing that the odds were against me and I would most likely look at Eric.

I started to eat my food, wanting to leave as soon as I could. Wanting to escape.

"I got you good Lucielle!" chanted Daniel as he pointed at her and laughed. Oh boy, not the lake! I don't want to remember or reminisce for that matter!

Lucy pouted as gave him a dark look. “Shut up Daniel! And eat your food." She snarled at him. I rolled my eyes, slowly losing my appetite. Carefully, I moved my eyes to Eric who was across from me from the ends of the table. He looked just the same as I did, we both didn't feel like eating.
