Chapter 8: Fire
I felt scared in a way, unconsciously, I moved my hand to Eric’s and held it tightly. He didn't seem to mind since he kept on running. We found a shadow appear behind the trees. The person was sloppily walking, lacking self-control. As we approached the person, I found out who this person was.
"Myra?" I called. She fell down to the ground. I ran faster than Eric to catch up to her. Then, I kneeled down and picked her up.
"What's wrong are you okay?" I asked, my eyes bewildered by her sudden act.
"Blah..mmm.hamm..."she drowsily spoke.
"Myra! Listen to me. What happened?" her eyes looked lazy and almost out. She was doing this again.
"I pushed a small tree…a sapling… down...and I was scared so I screamed." she managed to say, looking at me.
"We have to get her back to Calabrye." I told Eric, he nodded and took Myra off of my hands. We both held onto Myra, dragging her lacking legs to the castle. It was a good thing she was skinny.
We reached Calabrye, after minutes of pure exhaustion. Luckily, Eric decided to be a "gentleman" and take Myra with him. I trailed behind, pondering to myself.
A lot of confusion and mixed feelings have occurred the past few days, all of them concerning the party, my parents, and most importantly, Eric. I wish we could get past our problems, but I guess they are such a conflict that we just can't get along. One day we are kind to each other and the next day we are both angry, this was insane. I felt bipolar and hated not understanding how he was feeling today. Hopefully this friendship of ours continues towards the golden path.
We arrived in front of the castle's main doors where our guards watched us intently.
"Princess Rosalie," they both bowed. I hated this gesture; it showed me that I was perhaps intimidating. I didn't like it one bit, "What's the matter?" One asked, nodding over to the unconscious Myra.
"Please bring in Mrs. Sarah and my parents. Myra might be intoxicated." I said lightly as a feather. I felt Eric's eyes on me which gave me chills.
"Yes ma'am." They both bowed and ushered us into the Grand Entrance.
I turned around and faced Eric. "Do you need help?" I asked, looking down at Myra, her eyes were slowly closing.
"No, Rose, I got it." he said huskily. I motioned him to the living room where he placed Myra down on the couch. I wasn't sure how to feel, she changed all of a sudden, I was worried. "You okay, Rose?" Eric asked as he watched me curiously. I must have focused at my thoughts so much that I forgot where I was standing.
"Huh? Oh, I'm okay Eric. Just worried, that's all." A small smile was pressed on his pale lips.
"What?" I asked, I felt confusion swell around my face. Was it something I did or said?
"You really will be the best Queen." He said quietly and if I was not mistaken, passion burned into every word. I wondered what he meant by that, surely he was being sarcastic.
"Why? What do you mean?" I asked, still dumbfounded.
"You care, so much, even for people who are troubled, you still have hope in them." He nodded at Myra. I blushed at how sincere he was. I waited for some overconfident phrase, but nothing came out. He truly was being nice, it was a start.
"Thanks, and you'll be a pretty good Entie someday." I said warmly before focusing my attention to the click-clacks crashing onto the floor.
"Rosealie, dear what's happened?" My mother asked, cupping my face. Her warm hands felt scorching hot against my cold face.
