Phil's POV
My poor Dan... He had waken up in the middle of the night after some kind of nightmare and come to me sobbing uncontrollably. I held him and let him sleep in my bed and even checked on him every moment before I fell asleep. But it still terrified me. What was wrong with my little danosaur...?

That morning I woke up to find him facing me... His gaze was on the wall behind me and his expression was pained. He isn't even seem to notice I was looking at him.

So I just moved closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

My voice was hardly above a whisper, but I knew he heard me.

He looked deep into my eyes.

"I... I don't know..."

"Well what was your nightmare about last night?"

"Fire."

"Oh..."

I understood how terrifying dreams could be. I remembered nightmares I had had in the past. And how horribly real they had felt. I remembered waking up thinking they'd never end. And here was Dan... Traumatized over something I couldn't control.

"It was so real, Phil... It was so real..."

He grimaced.

I moved a stray piece of hair out of his face and tucked it behind his ear.

"But I couldn't help you... All I could do was watch you burn..."

A tear escaped from his eye. He made no effort to wipe it away. But then he looked at me with those eyes. They looked so hurt. So miserable. Only then could I see how much pain it had brought him. Where was my heart-eyes Howell...?

"It's over now, though... It's okay. I'm here. I've got you. There's no fire to be seen."

He nodded slowly.

"Are you going to be okay?"

He nodded again.

"Do you want waffles for breakfast?"

Another nod.

"Well alright. Ill have those right to you."

I started to stand but he stopped me.

"Wait."

"Hm?"
I looked back down at his sweet face.

"Please just stay with me for one more second."
His eyes pleaded with me.

"Dan..."
I said, sitting back down.

"Ill stay with you for an eternity if I have to."

I crawled back up next to him and held him as close I possibly could.

The moment should've never ended.
