Are we just going to ignore that?" Virgil asks.
"I mean, I got more waffles," Hailey replies through a mouthful of said waffles.
"Firstly, please do not talk with food in your mouth," I say to Hailey, then turn my attention to Virgil. "As for your question, no, we will not ignore the previous proceedings. I have been tracking Patton's behaviors across the past few days and there is a definite pattern. A few of the behaviors bear some semblance to symptoms of depression, however it is not concrete."
"What do we do??" Roman asks. "I feel like this is my fault!"
"Roman, I do not believe this is any of our faults. I believe we simply need to show Patton that he is loved."
"Isn't that what we always do, though?" Hailey puts in, thankfully not through food. "Show him how much we love him?"
"Then... kick it into high gear??" Virgil suggests, clearly unsure. Roman raises an eyebrow as if to ask if that's the best he can come up with. Virgil sighs. "Look, I'm trying, okay? Emotions aren't my department."
"It's not any of ours," I correct, "but least of all mine."
"But you still have them," Roman says.
"Falsehood!" I exclaim, then adjust my glasses. "I will not get into this argument again." I take the remaining half of my waffle and give one quarter to Virgil and one to Roman. "Now if you will excuse me, I must return to my room to analyze the new data."
"Ok yeah cool whatever," Roman says. I scowl, but do not engage.
When I reach my room, I immediately take my diary and take notes.
11/14
Only ate ¼ of waffles
Wearing hoodie properly
Was quiet at breakfast
There is a knock at my door. "Logie?" a quiet voice says. "C-can I come in..?"
"Of course you may, Patton," I reply, closing my diary. Patton opens the door, holding a blanket to his chest. It reminds me of a little kid coming into their parents' room after having a nightmare.
"D-do you think they hate me..?" Patton asks, looking at the floor.
"P-Patton.." I say, somewhat taken aback by the question. "Why would you think that?"
"Answer the question..." Patton's voice is a whisper, but I still hear it.
"Look at it objectively. When someone hates someone else, then they would be mean to that person. Are any of us mean to you?"
"No.. but what if you're all just acting?" Patton finally looks up and meets my eyes. I can see tears glistening in them, threatening to spill over at any second.
"Well, starting with Virgil. He hates Deceit, for reasons unknown. Therefore, he would not act. He has also related to me that he is concerned about you. Hailey has related this to me as well. She has always been there for you and sees you as an older brother. Roman... I cannot think of a convincing argument for him, as he is Thomas's ability to act, but me?" I smile softly. "Patton, I would never lie to you. I have emphasized multiple times that I dislike relaying false information, and therefore abhor lying."
Patton still does not look convinced. I stand up and walk over to him, then gently wrap my arms around him and lay my head on his. It does not take long before Patton's arms are around me as well. "Does this convince you?" I ask quietly. Patton gives a muffled noise of affirmation, but does not release me. I do not mind.
We stay like that for approximately three more minutes before there is a crash from downstairs. Patton pulls back from the embrace and says, "I should probably make sure nobody's hurt." I nod. Patton's hands linger over mine for a split second before he takes off down the hall. I sigh and add that event to my diary.
