I wake up slowly. The first thing I notice is the soft sound of pages rustling. Not  long after, I feel something lightly pressing against my torso and legs. Then I notice that everything smells like Logan, meaning I'm probably still in his room. I open one eye. My glasses are on the nightstand. I put them on, then push back the light blue blanket Logan must have covered me with and stand up.

"Ah, you're awake," I hear Logan say from behind me. I turn to look at him. He stands up from his armchair, puts in a bookmark, and walks over to me. "Are you alright?"

I nod, giving him a hopefully believable smile. "Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Patton, we've talked about this," Logan admonishes, adjusting his glasses. "It is imperative that you not lie to us when you are upset. Faking a smile can be detrimental." Logan's voice is tender and I can see a faint blush on his cheeks. I sigh.

"Lo, you know it's habitual," I tell him, not meeting his eyes. "My natural instinct is to protect you, just like Virgil, except I'm trying to protect your feelings. And don't tell me you don't have feelings," I add before Logan can contradict me. "You were the one who said that repression doesn't work, so quit being such a hypocrite." Logan says nothing. I sigh. "Anyways, I'm gonna head back to my room. Cya, Lo." The farewell doesn't sound as cheerful as it usually does, but I don't care. I walk out briskly, fighting the oncoming tears, knowing I can't let them show.
