I continue to stand at the door after Patton closes it. That entire interaction was inexplicably odd. I highly doubt that Patton would have gone out of his way to ask Roman for a favor for a "just because." Since having another viewpoint would be the most beneficial route, I decide to ask Virgil for his input.

When I arrive in his room, he is sitting on the stairs with his absurdly large headphones on, as I expected. I also notice that he is  twirling a fine, gold chain around his index finger.

"Did Patton give you that?" Virgil stops twirling the chain and pushes back his headphones.

"Yeah, it's from Patton," he replies. "Why do you care?"

"Where did he say it came from?"

"I didn't ask, so I don't know! Why are you asking??"

"I fear that Patton is hiding something from us." My words are carefully chosen so that I do not distress Virgil.

"And why do you think that?"

"When I asked Patton where he got the necklaces, he replied that Roman made them. However, I know for a fact that he and Remus have been in the imagination for the past hour and twenty-eight minutes. That is far longer than Patton's average whim lasts."

"Ok? And why is this concerning, exactly?"

"Virgil, I.." I am hesitant to share my fears, but Virgil deserves to know what may happen. The more I consider the possibility, the more it becomes the most likely outcome. I take a deep breath. "I am worried that Patton has become.. suicidal."

Virgil blinks a few times before he begins to laugh, confusing me greatly. "You're kidding, right?!" he asks. "This is all just some sick and twisted joke you and Patton made up!" Then Virgil begins to cry. "Please.. please tell me this is all a joke..."

I am unsure what to do. I cannot completely quell his fears without telling him a falsehood, and there is a strong possibility of Virgil knowing I committed a falsehood.

I tentatively walk up to Virgil and crouch in front of him. I place a hand on his shoulder. "Virgil," I say, attempting to imitate a tone Patton has used multiple times during this type of situation. Virgil looks at me, and the tears in his eyes glisten in the low light of his room. "I do not know for sure if that is the case. I may very well be reading too far into this.

Virgil smiles faintly. "Thanks, teach," he says while wiping his eyes. "Yknow, you're really starting to get the hang of working with emotions."

I blush slightly from the praise. "I believe I should return to my room now," I deflect. I stand up. "Notify me if there are any developments, either on Patton's condition or my hypothesis."

"Alright," Virgil replies as he gives a two-fingered salute. "Cya, Lo."

"Farewell." I walk back to my room and process the current events further.
