~ Chapter Twenty-nine ~ Logan ~

The moment Patton's body relaxes, I know he is asleep. I sigh softly and lay him on my bed, then return to my studies. My mind continues to drift back to Patton's existential crisis despite my careful nudging. With a sigh, I add the event to my diary.

I still cannot focus, as I am hyper aware of Patton's sleeping form. I shake my head and grab a book, then sit in my armchair and read. I have read the book countless times before, as is the case with the majority of my personal library, so I am able to let my attention wander.

When there is a knock at my door, in Morse Code for V, I insert my bookmark and say, "Quietly, now. Patton fell asleep."

Virgil opens the door, chuckling. "Were you really that boring?" he asks, then smiles to let me know it was a joke.

"Virgil, that was not at all funny," I inform him. I stand up and adjust my glasses. "I also must tell you something that is mildly distressing."

"Ok, if you say it's just mildly distressing, then it's probably going to freak me out. What happened." I notice that Virgil does not sound as if he is posing a question.

"While you and Depression were speaking with each other, Patton had what I can only describe as an existential crisis." I recount the earlier events to Virgil, noting how he begins to fidget with his hood. "I would also like to note that self harm and existential crisies are two warning signs of suicidal feelings, adding evidence to my theory."

"About that.." Virgil interrupts, nerves evident in his voice.

"He just tried to do it, didn't he?" I ask, and Virgil nods. I sigh. "Unbelievable.. I will keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't try again while under my supervision. I trust that you will do so as well?" Virgil nods. "I will stay with Patton for the time being." Virgil nods once more and walks away. I close the door and resume reading.
