~ Chapter Twenty-two ~ Deceit ~

I stalk through the hallway. These "little" intrusions of his are starting to become big problems.

My mind flashes back to seeing those scars in Patton's wrists. I was stunned into silence and, besides, I doubt he would have appreciated me adding into the conversation.

I shake my head angrily. Having Patton run away is one thing, but this?! I hiss softly. This was never supposed to happen.

When I reach my destination, I don't bother to knock, just throw open the door, startling the resident. "Dee, before you do anything rash, breathe," he instructs, standing up.

"Don't f*cking tell me to breathe!" I spit in reply, grabbing him by the collar and pulling him closer to me. His dark black eye shines with not only concern, but fear. I smirk inwardly. Good. Let him be scared. "He was never supposed to get hurt."

"Dee, what the hell are you—" He stops. "Wait. This is about Patton, isn't it?"

"Yes it's about Patton! He was never supposed to get hurt!!" I'm almost screaming.

"Deceit, I really suggest you take a chill pill." I scoff.

"And why should I?" I ask, putting my face just inches away from his.

"Because you're going to give Patton a nightmare." I blink a couple of times. "Our emotional states are closely linked now. If I get scared, he'll feel it to some extent."

I sigh, knowing he's right, and let him go. "Just.. be careful now, ok?" He nods. Satisfied, I walk out.

"Well, that certainly went according to plan~"

Shut up.

"Hm.. How about no?"

Dude, seriously. Shut up.

"Ok ok fine I'll shut up geez."

That was kind of you. But I don't think scaring him like that was a good idea, even if their emotional states weren't linked.

I know, I know. I just really care about him. I mean, he was my closest friend.

"Yeah, but then he decided you weren't beneficial to Thomas and threw you out."

I thought you said you were going to shut up?

He has a point, though. Is Patton really worth protecting that much? I mean, he can bounce back.

But he'll need help.

He has the light sides, especially Virgil. He's a perfect case for overcoming this.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll bring that up. But will it be enough..?
