Virgil approaches the barrier between light and dark side territory. His hands are in fists by his side and his jaw is visibly clenched. Rage bubbles up inside him.

"Little wing!" The anxious side stops and looks up to see a side wearing all black clothing—black jeans, shiny black lace-up combat boots, and a black leather jacket—on the opposite side of the barrier, waving at him with one hand, the other in his pocket, and a confident smile on his face. One of his eyes is jet black and his hair is streaked with the same shade.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?" Virgil growls, glaring at the black-clad side through his bangs. The new side chuckles.

"Aw, what's wrong, Virgil?" he asks, his voice mocking. "Do you not want to see your big brother anymore?" Virgil's head snaps up.

"We may go hand-in-hand, Depression," the anxious side grits though his teeth, "but we are not brothers."

"Aww, why not?" Depression mock-pouts, clasping his hands over his heart. "You used to love me! Remember your old outfit? I think I inspired that."

"Maybe you did, but those days are gone. Especially since you broke your promise."

"Whatever do you mean, Paranoia?"

"I AM NOT PARANOIA ANYMORE!!!" the anxious side screams, at his limits with the side of depression.

"You can call yourself Anxiety, but you're still one of us, deep down."

"Maybe so," Virgil says, knowing he won't get anywhere with arguing, "but at least I don't break my promises." Depression's smile falters for a split second, then returns stronger than before.

"Aww, are you upset about lil' Morality?"

"You promised me you wouldn't influence anyone. And yet Patton just tried to kill himself. That sounds like your influence." Depression chuckles.

"Guilty as charged, then, brother."

"Like I said, I am not your brother anymore." Virgil's words are clipped. "Either way, I can see now that, even though you've affected Patton so much, Deceit has influenced you plenty more." With that, the anxious side spins on his heel and walks away, leaving Depression stunned into silence.
