Chapter 4

Y/n had his head down on a table in the guild with a glass of hard liquor in his hand. He just finished teaching Kazuma a basic magic skill and was watching Kazuma learn the skill on his guild card with a bored expression. Once Kazuma went through the whole process, he stood up and held his hand out towards an empty glass.

Kazuma: Create Water!

A light stream of water exits his hand and goes towards the glass and gets filled. He then takes a drink from it.

Y/n: How's the magic?

Kazuma: It's about what I'd expect from elementary magic. Now that I've learned a skill, maybe I'm a bit more of an adventurer. Thanks for teaching me, Sensei!

He bowed to Y/n like you would to a teacher of a dojo.

Y/n: I'll teach you the others later since our other arch wizard is useless.

Darkness: Kazuma, Y/n. Look!

The two looked towards Darkness who was wearing her newly repaired armor.

Darkness: I repaired my armor with the money I got for the cabbages, it's so shiny now! What do you think?

Kazuma: Looks like the sort of armor some newly-rich aristocrat's son would wear.

Y/n just nodded his head in agreement.

Darkness: There are times when I'd like some genuine praise too. You never show any mercy, do you, Kazuma?

Kazuma: I don't have time to pay attention to you right now. Do something about that pervert who's well on her way to surpassing you.

The three looked towards Megumin who was rubbing against a new staff with a similar design to the old one, but the blue gem was replaced by a red one.

Megumin: The luster of this Manatite staff brimming with magical power...

Kazuma: Y/n's so disturbed by it that he's moved off of ale to hard liquor.

Both Kazuma and Darkness look at Y/n who downs another glass of liquor. They all hear Aqua's voice and turn to see her bothering Luna.

Aqua: What was that!? Hey, you, what's the meaning of this!? Just how many cabbages do you think I caught!?

Luna: W-Well...

Aqua: What?

Luna: Most of what you caught is actually lettuce...

Aqua: Why is there lettuce mixed in!?

Luna: Th-There's nothing I can do about it!

Darkness: It is true that lettuce has a low redemption rate.

Kazuma: Does it? I wouldn't know.

Aqua turned to the group and began making her way over.

Y/n: Ah, she's coming this way. That's not good. I'm gonna bale before she tries to get money from me. Later.

Megumin: U-Um, Y/n, I can go with you, if you'd like!

But she was too late because he was already gone.

Megumin: *sigh*

Darkness: Don't worry, you'll have your chance.

Aqua: Kazuma-san! About how much was your reward for our last quest?

Kazuma: About a million.

The three girls were shocked at the number they heard and stared at Kazuma who was resting his head in his hand with a bored expression.
