It was now night, the caravan had stopped to set up camp and cook up dinner which was made from the slaughtered Hawk Kites or whatever they were called. There were a few different camp fires set up while everyone celebrated the defeat of the monsters.
Caravan Leader(CL): Now, everyone, eat up! This turned out great, so help yourself!
Kazuma was looking down all depressed, understanding that it was there fault the caravan was attacked by monsters.
CL: I have to say, that was impressive! To think you had an archwizard capable of such awe-inspiring physical feats! Amazing! I am quite impressed!
Y/n didn't give a shit about the praise he was receiving, more interested in his drink than anything else.
Kazuma: Please stop, seriously. While Y/n is definitely terrifying, this is all our fault.
The man holds out a large pouch of eris to Kazuma.
CL: This is just to show my gratitude. Here, please.
Kazuma: No, no, no, no! It's totally fine! Really!
CL: What are you saying? It was a member of your group that defeated the Running Hawk Kites!
Kazuma: As adventurers, it's only natural we contribute to the battle.
CL Remarkable! To think that true adventurers like you people still exist in this harsh world!
The man was moved to tears, but Kazuma was also crying at having to refuse the money.
Kazuma: I can't accept a reward for a problem we caused!
Later that night, everyone was asleep in their sleeping bags. Kazuma sat up, getting a weird feeling.
Kazuma: Hey, wake up, Megumin! Something's weird!
She didn't respond, remaining asleep.
Kazuma: Hey! Megumin, Wiz, wake up! Otherwise I'm gonna do something that'll make it hard to look me in the eye... You don't mind? It's fine, then?
Darkness: Of course it's not! What were you going to do!?
Kazuma: AAH! Hey, don't scare me like that! I was about to do something crazy in front of you!
Darkness: Seriously, what were you going to do? No, that's not important now.
Adventurer: Hey, there's something out there! Everyone, wake up!
All of the adventurers began to wake up, ready for battle.
Kazuma: And... Foresight.
His vision zoomed in and he could see in infrared. He saw the heat signatures of multiple humanoid figures.
Kazuma: There's a lot of them! But they're moving stiffly...
One of the adventurers tossed a torch forward, lighting the area up and revealing the monsters to be a horde of undead. Once this was done, a lot of screaming followed, waking Wiz up.
Kazuma: Handle things here! I'll get Aqua!
He began running off while Darkness unsheathed her sword to try and help.
Kazuma: Now's our chance to pay everyone back! After the trouble we caused when the Running Hawk Kites were attracted to Darkness-
Aqua: AAH!! What is this!? Why am I surrounded by undead the second I wake up!? Kazuma-san! Kazuma-san!
Kazuma: Wait. Is this...
Aqua: Trying to attack us while we sleep!? Pretty sneaky of you, undead! Oh, wandering souls, rest in peace! Turn Undead!
