Tuesday 3:00 p.m.
Jayden: Are you okay? You weren't in eight period.
Me: I puked this morning, so my mom let me stay home.
Jayden: Oh. Feel better.
Wednesday 6:30 a.m.
Me: Hey, I'm not coming into school again today. I have a fever. Can you take notes for me in English?
Jayden: Have you seen my notes? Are you sure you want them?
Me: You're right. On second thought...
Jayden: Fuck you.
Me: Haha, I'm just joking. I'll take whatever you write down. Thanks in advance.
Wednesday 3:30 p.m.
Jayden: Look at how much effort I put into these notes.
Jayden: Sent an image
Me: What the fuck is the thing in the top right corner? Is that a decaying zombie?
Jayden: That's your face.
Me: -_-
Thursday 2:50 p.m.
Jayden: Are you even alive? This is the third day in a row you've missed school.
Me: Unfortunately, yes. Breathing troubles today.
Jayden: Maybe you should see a doctor.
Me: Or...or...hear me out: I can just drop dead
Jayden: You're wild as fuck. Go see a doctor.
Me: Still alive. Migraine this morning. Can you take notes for me again?
Jayden: Sure.
Jayden: Here.
Jayden: Sent an image.
Me: Thanks.
Me: Your sugar skulls look cool, btw.
Jayden: Do you think you're going to wake up sick again tomorrow?
Me: Hopefully not. Why?
Jayden: Do you wanna see Joker with me?
Me: Sure!
Jayden: Cool. There's a 7:30 showing at Regal. Is that okay?
Me: Sounds good.
Jayden: K.
Jayden: Still alive?
Me: Yes. Alive and well.
Me: What time do you want me to meet you?
Me: Or I can pick you up?
Jayden: Meet me there at 7:30. See you then.
A gentle knock on the door broke my stare at my phone. I quickly closed my phone and threw it on the bed as my door creaked open.
Conner poked his head in. "Hey," he said. "Are you okay? You damn near missed a whole week of school."
