Sunrise

[Sol's POV]

Sunrise is better than sunset. Was the tweet that I saw in my notification when I woke up at 5:30 am.

Bumangon ako and I checked if she's already up, lumabas ako sa room namin at nakita ko siyang naka-oversized na sweater, crossing her arms. Nakatanaw siya sa dagat kahit medyo malayo ito mula sa balcony ng room namin, ngunit tanaw pa rin ang nalalapit na pagsikat ng araw.

"You're up early." Ani ko dahilan para mapalingon siya agad sa akin na nasa likod niya.

Tumango siya at ngumiti. "Minsan ko lang abangan at makita ang sunrise."

"Edi titigan mo 'ko lagi 'pag magigising na 'ko."

Sinamaan niya ako ng tingin at umirap. Tumawa naman ako ng malakas.

"What? Sunrise?" I emphasized the word Sun kahit alam ko'ng nagets niya naman na iyon.

Isinandal ko ang siko ko sa railing at tumagilid para humarap sa kaniya. She just looked straight, starring at the ocean.

Nagningning naman ang mga mata niya dahil sa repleksyon ng tubig sa dagat.

She's just so beautiful and I adore her.

"I actually am in love with you, Luna." I bursted out, napatingin siya sa akin at nanlaki ang mga mata nito. I closed my eyes for a second at huminga ng malalim.

Nagkatitigan kami ng saglit, walang nagsalita ngunit ilang sandali lang ay tumawa siya ng malakas. "Lakas pala ng loob mo 'pag bagong gising."

Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero napangiti rin ako. Tawang tawa siya at naluluha na ngayon, pinunas niya ang mga daliri niya sa mata niya.

What's so funny? "Totoo 'yun, Luna. I like you."

"Alam ko." She smiled, looking at me. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero tila nag-init ang tenga at pisngi ko.

My forehead creased. "Then?"

"I like you too."

Then my heart felt like it exploded. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero gusto kong tumalon, gustong sumabog ng puso ko. I'm shaking and my hands are cold, it's probably because of the cold sea breeze. I can smell the slaty waves all the way from here. The sun rays and cear skies, her wide smile and dark eyes, this moment has become a core memory.

Is this real? Or is this a dream?

From bad mood yesterday to this? Real quick.

"Really?" Abot tenga na siguro ang ngiti ko ngayon dahil sa sinabi niya. She was smiling too, but in just a few seconds, I saw her smile turned upside down. "What? Why?"

"But. . ." Ani niya, ayoko na sanang marinig eh. "You're too stubborn, you get easily jealous, you're possessive, and someone who'd fight his own cousin for a girl you like."

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. Is that really me though? O naging ganyan lang dahil sa kaniya? She makes me real crazy, I don't even know who I am when I'm with her.

Nagulat din ako dahil nalaman niya ang sinabi ko kay Dos kagabi. I won't forget that night though, and I should probably apologize.

Yumuko ako at nalungkot. If that's the reason why she doesn't want to be with me, I'll change. For her. Just for her.

She held my chin at itinaas ito upang hindi ako makayuko. I swear I felt the chills travel down my spine. "Yet I still like you and those are part of the reasons why."
