Messing up.

"Don't give her a hard time Kayla"my mom gives me a last stare as Elaina helps my Dad place my suitcase in the Uber.

No worries ,the elf is going to be just fine with me..(evil laugh)

"Sure mom,stay safe dad ,bye"I hug them both and settle in the back seat of the Uber with Elaina.the driver drives off and I stare at Elaina..
"What..?"She scowls
"Oh nothing much elf ,the thought of staying with you during this vacation opens up a lot of ideas .."I threw my head back and stare into space.I hear her laugh .
"... you're missing the good part ,my parents finally took that Cuba trip they've been planning on taking after their divorce plan was cancelled"She winks playfully.
"We're gonna be alone in that house?"I mutter, hoping she's not joking. She nods and I almost fall off my seat.
My phone rings .
**CAESAR**
(silent mode) , something I've been doing for the past two days since I met Caroline.
"Who was that ?"Elaina glanced at the driver and mouths 'HOT'. I roll my eyes at her and mouth 'NOBODY.' as I shake the phone in her face.
I'm upset with him for spending so much time away from me without even texting and now that I'm sure he  cares a lot more,it won't hurt to punish him and no one's going to save him, not even Sandra..ha, like I'm scared of her.

"Sandra just called ,she wants to talk to you Kayla"Elaina passes me her phone,I dread placing the phone close to my ears.

And you were saying?

"Kayla!! ,I know you can hear me you fool, I'm coming from you!"She screams and ends the call.

Elaina gapes at me"I don't know what you did but she's going to kill you"
"She doesn't scare me"I scoff
"We're here"the driver announces and we get out of the car. the driver helps with my suitcase and leaves. Elaina  opens the door and we soon get settled in the house till we hear a knock on the door.
"Hide me Elaina!"I jump to hug her.
"No more elf huh?"She cackles.
"Really! Elf "I run to the bathroom.
seconds later I hear Sandra's voice .
The bathroom door roughly opens.
"Why aren't you picking his calls?"Sandra drags me to the living room. Elaina laughs, moving to the kitchen.
I playfully move away from her and into the kitchen where Elaina is.
"Take this boy drama out of the kitchen you two."Elaina scowls at us.
"Talk some sense into her already"Sandra says directly to Elaina .
"Oh no ,I'm just gonna wait for her to mess this one chance so I can go for him ."Elaina answers Sandra with a wink and they both laugh out loud.
"Excuse me?"I growl at them .I didn't realize Elaina knew about Caesar .I didn't want to tell her without being sure of my feelings for him cause she's got a medal for convincing. She could convince anyone to start a relationship with a stone and they blindly would.
Great ,two against one.

"It's not like I don't like him"I whine . They mimick me and continue laughing.
"Sandra told me He's leaving again tonight"Elaina hums.
"What!"my eyes pop out.
"Yeah girl, for a month,He called me saying he needed to see you before he left but you ain't picking your calls so..."Sandra comes in.
"He just got back!"I grabbed my phone to call him hastily.
"Are you crying?"Elaina teases me. I frown at her , dialling Caesar's number. It rings.
"Hello...?"And after three weeks,3 days ,my body tenses up the moment he speaks. I can't speak, realising how stupid I was to even ignore him when all I wanted was him.
Sandra and Elaina swat the back of my head in unison before running upstairs .
"Ohw!"I shriek.
"Kayla?...is that you?, "His voice is a low growl and I tremble.
"Erh , hi , it's been long , hope you fine—"
"—You've been ignoring me , right"He cuts me off.
" It's not like that..."
"Then how is it?, huh? , leaving me that night ?, not answering my calls? "He cuts me off clearly upset. My mind races ,I start pacing around the house.
Say something you fool

"You know what?, I'm done trying to make you understand that I do feel something for you since it's obvious you don't get it "His voice hitches and I hear him curse under his breath.my heart clenches as I realize I might be hurting him.
"Goodbye Kayla"He ends the call.
No no no..
I try calling him again and his phone is switched off.
I panick..
Leave it to Kayla to mess things up ...

I swipe my handbag from the couch and search in for Caroline's card.

"Hello?"Her voice as elegant as can be.
"Hello ,Miss Caroline erhm this is Kayla , I was hoping—"
"Kayla Wills ,that was fast , your first argument?"She sounds amused.
"I.."I trail off.
What are you gonna tell her huh?, that you wanted to ignore him for awhile?
"How mad is he ?"She breaks the silence.
"He switched off his phone after ending the call."I explained.
"...I see"She mutters.
"Well he's certainly heading home by now. Let's see ..(5 seconds of silence) .. it's 4:22pm,I'm sending you a driver to get you there by 5pm."She talks casually.
"Oh no,Miss Caroline I can pick an Uber if you give me his address"I'm surprised at how supportive she is.
"I insist,just give me your address"She says ,I thank her so many times and hear her laugh after I give Elaina's address. I end the call and run upstairs to change.
I hastily explain to Sandra and Elaina and they help me dress up .A car honks and Elaina walks out to check.
"Hey Kayla! ,your ride is in"She yells ,i peck Sandra and get into the car.
"Miss Wills?"the driver asks.
"Yes please"I  nod ,he flashes me a smile and drives.
