After waking up from that night Stan could feel his whole body tingle, everything ached for him to go back to bed. And it scared him. Is this what his life is going to look like from now on? Will he lose interest in his actual life more and more? Start sleeping all the time? That can't be healthy. But at least he knows now how to end his trips because the leaving Kyle and walking out of the door actually worked. He immediately started to feel dizzy and woke up only a few seconds later, luckily in his own bed.
During lunch break he stops Kenny, who is walking to the cafeteria. The blonde's eyes lighten up. They haven't spoken to each other since Saturday. "Let's go somewhere quiet. We need to talk." Kenny nods and follows Stan who decides to go to the wall he sat on with Craig two nights ago. Kenny, who usually is the very first one to grab his food, doesn't complain about the missed lunch. When they reach the stone wall behind the dorm building, Stan leans against it and crosses his arm. "You fucked up. You hurt me." "Yeah..." "But you are my best friend." Kenny looks down at his feet. "Kyle explained to me his side of the story." "Oh." Stan looks up into the sky and takes a deep breath. "I will forgive you-" "Really? Fuck, thank you, dude. You can't believe how much I regret it. I feel so fucking bad. You need to know that-" "IF you listen to what I'm going to tell you next. And if you believe me." Kenny seems confused but nods. "Okay." "And just because I forgive you doesn't mean everything is fine. But I need you right now so don't fuck it up." Kenny nods again. "What's wrong?" Stan takes a deep breath. "Remember the hickeys?" Kenny laughs shortly. "Of course, they are still visible if you haven't noticed. And..." He leans closer and squints his eyes. "There are new ones." Stan uncomfortably adjusts the collar of his jacket. "When I told you that I don't have a girlfriend I was telling the truth. They are from...Kyle." Kenny's eyes widen. "Wait, really? How? When? At the party? No wait it happened before that. Are you guys dating?" "No. Kyle and I haven't kissed. Except for the one kiss during spin the bottle. Well we have. But we haven't." "What the fuck are you talking about? Did you drink?" Kenny takes a step back, his eyebrows furrowed. "Do you believe in supernatural stuff?" "No, not really. Except for karma maybe. And I like the idea of rebirth. But the only supernatural thing that has happened to me was when I ate that salsa sauce, knowing it had expired 7 months ago and didn't get food poisoning. I swear, my stomach is undefeatable." Stan closes his eyes. Say it. Say it. Say it. "I can time travel." Kenny doesn't respond right away. He just stares at him. Then he grins. He starts to giggle. Soon the giggling turns into hysteric laughter. His face morphs intoba distorted mask of joy. Kenny wraps his arms around his stomach, he grunts like a pig. "Fuck, stop it! I'm serious!" His laughing disappears as quickly as it took over his body. Kenny looks confused. "You are?" "Yes!" Silence. "No, this is some sort of prank. To pay me back." "Are you trying to make me hate you or what? I told you, you have to believe me if you want me to forgive you!" Kenny's mouth opens and closes again. He clears his throat. "This is not a prank? You're being serious?" "Yes." He nods slowly. Stan can see in his eyes that he still doesn't believe what he is hearing but at least he's trying. "Okay. Tell me everything."
Kyle doesn't seem too happy when he sees who's been knocking on his door. "Oh. Hey." "Hey." Stan tries to smile at him but when he sees Kyle's face, his mouth drops. His eyes are puffy. Has he been crying? "What do you want?" "I..." Kyle crosses his arms. He looks away. "I wanted to ask if you want to hang out." "With you? Why?" "Because...I don't know. I like spending time with you. And I want to get to know you better." Kyle sighs. "I don't think that's a good idea. After what happened yesterday." "I'm sorry if I hurt you. It's just too much to explain." Kyle's face shoots up, his eyes narrow. "IF you hurt me?" "Okay I did hurt you. But I didn't mean to. I would never want to hurt you but I had no choice." "Stan, you're full of shit." Ouch. "I-I know. Okay? I know. But please give me another chance. I want us to be friends." "I don't think being friends is going to cut it. Are you really that retarded? I basically confessed to you and you turned me down but now you're like 'hey let's be friends'? Are you having a stroke or something?" "Kyle, I like you. A lot. Okay? And I shouldn't have turned you down. Please let me fix this." He steps closer and softly grabs Kyle's hand. "Friendship isn't going to cut it for me either. But it's a good start, right? Please, I just want to make this right." Kyle sighs quietly and looks down at their intertwined fingers. "Just the two of us?" "Uhm...actually I thought together with Craig and Kenny." "Why Kenny?" "Because he's my friend and I thought...I thought things are fine between you two. I'm sorry. I should stop assuming things." Kyle tucks one of his heavy red curls behind his ear and flashes a weak smile. "No, you're right. We're fine. What do you guys want to do anyway?" "We thought we could maybe watch a movie. I got Netflix and you have that sick ass high tech tv in your room." Kyle raises his eyebrows and starts to grin. "So that is why you want to hang out with me? Because you need the tv?" "Ah fuck, you figured it out." Stan raises his arms in surrender and puts on a fake pout. Kyle chuckles. "Okay, fine. I'll tell Sam to fuck off. You guys can come over in an hour. I have to study now." "Okay. Sounds good. See you in a bit."
