"Come on man, hurry your pale British ass up! It's already noon and we were supposed to leave by 9am," Shane pounds on my door as I slap a hat on and grab my phone by the bedside table.
"I'm coming! Wait up," I call out before opening the door to find him and Sam and to my surprise, the rest of the cast including Jo and Julia. "What is this? Some kind of party?" I joke but they just roll their eyes at me. I close my door and we all start to file in the elevators. I end up at the back with Jo standing so close beside me, I could smell her sweet intoxicating scent. "Hey," I say, my voice low enough so only she could hear me.
She looks up to me with a smile and say, "Hello."
"I didn't know everyone's coming out with us. I just thought it would be me, Sam and Shane."
"Yeah, but Pia overheard them talk it over during breakfast and asked if we could all tag along since, you know, it's our free day before we start filming on Monday," she explains.
"Oh..."
"Why? You don't like to have us getting in the way of your bro time?" She lifts her brow questioningly. The elevator opens up and we all spill out to the lobby.
"No! That's not it. I guess I was just surprised, it's all," I rush to say. I don't want to say anything that might make her think of me differently.
"Alright guys, Sam and I already took the liberty of booking all of us with Uber. Since there's too many of us, we'll have to split into two groups, four in each," Shane announces like he's a goddamn tour guide. It's kind of hilarious and I can't control the small chuckle escape from my lips. He glares at me and I try to keep a straight face.
"Assholes in one vehicle. Ladies, you take the other," Sam instructs as we head out the hotel's entrance. I try to ignore the slight disappointment gnawing at me at the fact that I won't be riding with Jo.
When we arrive at the Georgia Aquarium, everyone's buzzing with excitement. I guess it's kind of cool that we're all out here as a group and exploring the area together. We stick within the group as we move from place to place, we eat together and we ask each other random questions, trying to get to know everyone better.
"So wait, Pia, you're telling me you're actually a musician?" I ask disbelievingly. I had absolutely no idea. We're sitting around a picnic table outside the aquarium, a few chips and fries and cans of sodas and bottles of water laid in front of us.
"Yes, I'm actually working on my music for the movie's soundtrack."
"Wow! That's so awesome," Jo squeals, linking her arm with Pia's. "I always thought I'd be into the music industry before I discovered my love for acting," she adds, piquing my curiosity. Not gonna lie, I was only half interested in listening in on their conversations but now that Jo's starting to open up about herself, I find myself giving one hundred percent of my attention.
"So you could sing?" I ask, excited to have a glimpse of her personal life.
"You could say that but probably not as good as Pia," she giggles and Pia rolls her eyes.
"Uh, girl, I heard you singing along to the music last night and you sounded amazing babe," Khadijha butts in, bumping her hips to Jo's. They're really getting along so well and it takes me a second to realize that Julia is no longer on our group. And Dylan. But there's only a little part of my brain that os wondering where they could be, most of my attention is still glued to Jo.
"Not really, it was only something I did back in elementary and the first part of middle school. Can you believe, I even composed a song together with a friend of mine back then?" She giggles, shaking her head and it's the cutest, most interesting thing I've heard all day. I imagine a young Josephine laying on her stomach on her bed with a pen and notepad, writing down lyrics. I feel warm and fuzzy all over.
