I toss and turn on my bed. I can't sleep, my mind occupied by Jo and every possible scenario of her talk with Anna. My anxiety at the thought that she might be axed from the movie and the possibility of me waking up in the morning to find out that she's already left is overwhelming. I feel the early signs of an anxiety attack creeping in. I grab my phone from the bedside table, it reads one in the morning. Great, I have to be up by six to retouch the tattoos.
I plan to call Jo and ask her all about it but remember that I never got her number. I could just knock on her door, maybe she hasn't slept yet from her meeting with Anna. But what if she's already sleeping and I wake her by knocking?
Fuck it!
I put on my slides and in a few seconds, I'm already outside her room. Taking deep calming breaths, I tap on her door, careful not to draw attention from the other rooms-don't want Pia or Shane finding me creeping outside Jo's room at one in the fucking morning now, do I? I wait for a couple of seconds before knocking again, this time a little louder.
"Jo, it's me," I say when I hear some shuffling from the other side of the door. The door swings open and reveals Jo in her silky button down pyjama set. She hasn't been asleep yet, as she's still wearing her eyeglasses.
"Hey, what's up?" She frowns, staring up at me.
"How'd everything go with Anna?" I ask and she gasps, whipping her head to look around the hallways before pulling me inside her room. "What? What happened?" I press once she's closed the door behind me.
"You don't know?" She asks.
"Know what? Should I know something I don't?" I ask back, confused by her reaction.
She stares at me, weighing her options. With a shake of her head, she says, "It's not something I'm allowed to talk about... yet." Her answer only leaves me more confused and curious. "You'll know when the time is right. I'm sure Anna will call for you by then," she assures me with a small smile but I'm not quite convinced. "Is that the only reason you came?" She asks and I know this is her way of changing the subject.
"One of the reasons actually," I smirk and she raises her brow. "I also really wanted to just see you," I say huskily which only makes her roll her eyes at me. This woman is unbelievable. I haven't had any problem flirting with anyone before... before her. It's always complicated when it comes to her, but I know she's worth it.
The best things don't come easy.
"Well, seeing that you aren't gonna tell me anything, why don't we take a late night stroll by the pool?" I ask feigning confidence. Please say yes.
"Hero, I have a boyfriend. Strolling late at night with you wouldn't really be appropriate, would you say?" She points out. Damn it, she's right.
"It's just a stroll Jo, quite a harmless activity, wouldn't you say?" I throw back at her cheekily and I could see she's fighting the smile breaking from her lips by biting them. "Or I could spend the night pestering you with what you and Anna talked about, your choice," I smirk, shrugging my shoulders.
"I hate you," she playfully glares at me despite the cute little smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
"Throw on a jacket or something and let's get out of here."

"Tell me about your boyfriend Jo," I ask her as we make our way to the hotel's pool area. Despite the slight chill in the air, it's still warmer for the summer. Jo's got a light jacket over her pyjamas and I'm wearing white shirt and black sweatpants.
"Hero..." she says in a warning tone.
"Jo..." I mimic her which only makes her giggle. "Seriously, I want to know. What's so great about him? What's not so great about him? Who is he? You know... the usual things a guy who likes you would want to know about his competition," I say matter-of-factly.
