It's too late

48 3 4

The day time ended
All life ceased to exist
A revolutionary era
Where we tried to resist

The white plains left us
As a result of our abuse
Species extinct
Hung by a carbon noose

We listened
We shared
But they, they didn't want to hear
To take action, they wouldn't have dared

We could have touched the soul of the earth
And held it in our heart
An apparently 'impossible task'
That could have saved our world from falling apart

And now as our minds
Are just an empty space
As blood doesn't run through our veins
And an explosion of nothing has replaced your face

You have to ask
Was humanity a race
Where the judges look away
And a round of applause is an insult

Where we procrastinated
Until the last moment
But this time
This time

We were too late
