Sleep

Take a smile
And watch it fade

Don't think of sadness
Think of slumber

A time of peace for most
Some an endless round of horror

A necessity to all alike
Mother and child both lay crossed over

Breathe deeply as you
Roll over and
Find comfort on the other side

Relax again and
Let the mind wonder

Rest easy as the light
Turns dim and brightens

Listen to the birds
Sing midnight songs

And as you blink awake
Stretch out from your happy slumber

And into the arms of a new day
