'You think it would work if Link is in Ganon's firing line?' Zelda asked.

Y/N nodded to confirm everything she had just explained. 'Either that, or if Ganon is attacking you personally. It only works on you or the ones you love.'

'And What makes you so sure?' Zelda asked, knowing that something must've happened back in Rito village to make her so certain of this.

'I defended myself against some bokoblins with it.' Y/N attempted to brush of Zelda's suspicions.

'Then how do you know it only works on the ones you love?' Zelda kept pushing. She knew that something was going on between Y/N and Revali, but she wasn't going outright ask her about it.

'It happened back in Zeranda.' She said coldly. Determined to change the subject, she encouraged Zelda to use Link as bait in her battle against Dark Beast Ganon. Link was to seal away Calamity Ganon with the help of the Divine Beasts (three of which were already appeased). He was just waiting on Y/N to help Revali appease Medoh, however that was not going to happen anytime soon. With the two both in turmoil, there was no way that their plan could work. She planned to ask Link to go in her place instead.

When she finally proposed this idea, Zelda was skeptical. 'Are you sure?! Calamity Ganon is much more of a challenge than Windblight! You're putting your life at risk!'

'Everyone is putting their life at risk, regardless of what beast they're fighting. And with all due respect, I'm the one with the power, not Link.'

'You sound like Revali.' Zelda half laughed.

'Please don't remind me of him.'

'So what's the REAL reason you won't go back to Medoh?'

Y/N took a deep breath. She knew that Zelda would find out eventually, so she decided to come clean (well, partially).

'Revali and I had an argument,' Y/N finally admitted. Zelda - and even Link - gasped at this revelation.

'An argument?! What about?!' Zelda shook her cousin's shoulders, demanding to know more.

'It all started when he made me fight a lynel. He wanted me to prove to him that my power worked. But it kinda backfired... and I ended up getting mad at him. After that blew over, I asked him why he made me do it. Then he told me he had feelings for me, and the lynel incident was a test to see if I felt the same. Apparently I did, because the power worked. Then he got all smug and started ignoring me. He blatantly used me for his own gain.' Y/N slammed her fist on a nearby desk in frustration, as tears threatened to sting her eyes.

Zelda immediately put her hand on her shoulder. She looked up at Link, whose eyes were also full of empathy, despite never being able to verbally express it.

'Listen to me, Y/N.' Zelda instructed. 'I've known Revali for a long time. Granted, he is the most arrogant, self-absorbed character I've ever came across in my life. Once I even considered removing his title as Champion because of his appalling behaviour. But I also know that he's got a good heart beneath all that. It shows because he was prepared to sacrifice his life to save Hyrule. He almost died up there on Medoh. I don't think he'd deliberately lead you on or try to hurt you. Especially you of all people. I've seen the way he looks at you. He truly cares about you. But the problem is, he's never been in that sort of romantic situation before and therefore doesn't know how to behave around women. Therefore, he lets his ego get the best of him and gets carried away. But he means well, I assure you of that much.'

'I'm still angry with him though,' Y/N shrugged. 'He even went as far as to blame me for missing his target at the flight range,'

'Don't take it too personally, Y/N.' Zelda reassured her before turning and pointing towards Link. 'This poor guy over here gets a face full of insults every single day. Yet he STILL acts like it doesn't bother him!' The two girls then began to laugh at Link's expense, while the flustered knight just stood there wordlessly.

~~~~~
'Is she here?' A flustered blue bird panted as he approached a castle guard. The guard pointed him in the direction of the future Queen's chambers. However, along the way, he ran into Zelda. He was immediately met with a scowl.
'Where is she?' He demanded, but it sounded more like a beg.
'Out of harms way.' Zelda snapped back, attempt to push past him. But the bird wouldn't let her.
'Please tell me. I need to apologise to her,'
'Since when do you know how to apologise?' Zelda folded her arms in frustration.
'Please...' She could see the desperation in his usually sarcastic, smouldering green eyes. She sighed before pointing towards a tower with a staircase...
~~~~~

Y/N stretched her arms lazily as she lay in the four-post bed in her chambers. These were the chambers in which King Rhoam had slept before he was killed by Ganon, however, they had since been modified to look like Queen's chambers, in the assumption that Zelda would soon become queen. It was now late in the evening and she reflected on the long, tragic day she had just been subjected to.

She missed Revali badly, she couldn't deny it. She missed the touch of his soft blue feathers, she missed the way his electric green eyes would light up whenever he looked at her, she missed the way he had cuddled her the night before, so carefully and lovingly, she missed his voice, his e laughter, when he revealed his secrets to her. She missed the adrenaline rush she got from flying on his back with him. However, she feared that if they met again, it would only end in confrontation. She hated confrontation. She cursed herself for getting caught up in this.

Eventually, she got so tired she could no longer keep her eyes open, so she blew out the candle, and sunk down into the soft, silky mattress. She could feel herself on the brink of sleep when her door creaked open. She paid no mind to it; there was no way it could be danger since the castle was so heavily guarded, and Ganon was stuck in the sanctum, and apart from anything else, she didn't have the energy to deal with it right now, until she felt a weight shift the bed slightly.

The duvet was lifted from her before a soft, warm sensation enveloped the back of her body, and what felt like an arm soaked around her waist. She smiled, and grabbed the hand of the person who was doing this, only to discover they had no hand, yet a wing. The duvet soon fell lightly across the two of them, and they fell asleep contentedly.
