Ava's POV

I couldn't sleep. I spent the night tossing and turning in my bed. Was she going to tell my daddy? Had she already told him? Did she know that I had been with Parker? Did she know that he had spent the night in my room? All of these questions were running through my head. The biggest one was : How did she know that I was gone? My mind drifted to Aiden. He had said he heard Parker coming in. Maybe he only mentioned it to me to see if I would lie to him. May be he knew the truth.

I was panicking. If my mother told them, they would all kill Parker. My daddy, my brothers. my uncles, they would hunt him down. They'd make me watch them kill him and then they'd kill me. My father would be so disappointed. I groaned and flipped over again. What was I going to do?

I didn't sleep at all that night. How could I? My life was going to end in the morning. I never should have left the house. I should have never let him talk me into sneaking out. I didn't even have a good excuse. I thought about coming up with some elaborate lie, but decided against it. I had already been caught, I might as well fess up to it, right? So at about 7:30, once I heard my daddy leave for work, I climbed out of bed. I knew my mother was awake, she probably hadn't slept either knowing her.

I peeped around the corner and saw her fixing a cup of coffee. I started to walk in there, but I heard the backdoor open, so I didn't move from my spot. Aunt Hope walked in, still dressed in her pj's. My mother had obviously called her. Wordlessly, Mama handed her a second coffee cup and then the two sat down at the bar.

"So what happened?" Aunt Hope questioned Mama.

"I caught Ava sneaking back into the house through her bedroom window last night." Mama stated with a sigh. Aunt Hope choked on her coffee a little bit.

"I'm sorry, did you say Ava?" She asked in disbelief.

"Believe me, I know. I didn't want to believe it either." My mother shook her head. "I just had a feeling you know? I knew something wasn't right. I just knew... Of course, I figured one of them was sick or that I'd catch Andrew doing something. "

"Are you sure that you weren't dreaming? I mean, really, you were more likely to catch Andrew doing that than Ava."

"Hope, I am trying to tell you what happened." My mother shot my aunt a look. "Anyways, I left Bentley in the bed, sleeping, and decided to check on the kids, just to ease my mind. I started at the boys, because I wanted to make sure they were actually there. Both of them were sleeping. Blaine was in his bed. Ava was next and I just peeked in, to make sure she was asleep and you can imagine how shocked I was to find her bed empty."

"I just can't believe it." Aunt Hope shook her head in disbelief.

"I just don't know what to do." Mama signed.

"Layla, you know what that reminds me of?" Aunt Hope had a smile on her face. She didn't waig for Mama to respond, she just continued talking. "That sounds like us when we were her age. Don't you remember how crazy were about those boys? Dont you remember how we acted? So really, what can you do?"

"Hope, I ended up being 17 and pregnant with triplets." Mother reminded her.

"But you had your happy ending. So did I. I think it's Ava's turn."

Yes! Thank you Aunt Hope, I mentally said. I was so thankful that my aunt was backing me up.

"So you think I should let her off the hook?" Mama raised her eyebrows.

"Oh God no. She snuck out, which was totally wrong, she deserves to be in trouble." Aunt Hope stated. My mouth hung open. How could she do that! She was on my side not even a second ago!

"I'm sensing that there is a 'but' coming." Mama took another sip of her coffee.

"But don't be too hard on her. You got to have your fun, its her turn. She's a teenage girl, Lay, she's supposed to act stupid sometimes. She's spent her entire life trying to make everyone happy. I think it's good that she is gonna have a summer romance.." I smiled. Aunt Hope was officially mg favorite. She was saving my behind.

"I guess you have a good point.." Mama sighed for the billionth time.

"So, you didn't tell me, who's the lucky guy?" My aunt began to lighten the mood.

Mama laughed. "I actually do not know. I didn't see the boy and I was too mad last night to ask."

"Let's just hope that its a decent guy."

"He's getting her to sneak out in the middle of the night, I don't think he is all that decent." Mama stated dryly.

"Again, we did the same thing. We hide the guys from our parents for months, so I'm keeping my comments to myself."

"When did you become so wise?" Mama teased.

"I don't know, when did you get so dumb?" Aunt Hope teased back.

"If you take a look at my life choices, you will see that I have never been all that smart." Mama admitted, making both of them laugh.

"Wait I have another question about Ava, did you tell Bentley?" My aunt asked expectantly, Mama vehemently shook her head.

"God no, I'm hoping that I won't have to. As long as she stops this, then I won't tell him. I knew how he would react if I told him. He would have made the situation a lot worse." Mama shook her head. "I love him, but he tends to not think rationally sometimes."

"Must be a Lake thing." Aunt Hope muttered.
