"The size is huge," Jordan speaks while playing with the ends of the red jersey.
"That is what she said," Her brother jokes and she slaps his head. "Ouch! Don't be a meanie!" He complains.
"Don't be an asshole," She retorts before opening the door of the old truck. "See you," She speaks and before she closes the door he stops her.
"Wait, Jordan," He says and she frowns as she stops the action. "Have a good birthday and call me if you need anything or something goes wrong," He smiles and she does too.
Truth is, she never celebrate her birthdays. When she was little and throw birthday parties no one ever came, so, she started to hate her birthday and until today for her not special and never will. No one ever asks anyway.
"Thank you and I will," She adds and finally closes the door.
Jordan starts walking with the sea of people as she looks at her ticket and tries to find her door to get inside the stadium.
"Hey, are you lost?" A boy asks her as he sees her furrowed eyebrows. The girl looks at him, unsure if to trust or not until she realizes she knows him. "Wait, do I know you?" He wonders.
"Yes, I kind of fixed your brother's car a week ago or so," She explains.
"Oh, that is true! I'm Tyler," He extends his hand and she takes it.
Jordan guesses Trent hasn't told anyone about they hanging out which she finds cool, due to not wanting people in her business.
"So, I have no clue where the entrance is, I have never been here before," She declares and he smiles at her.
"Let me see," He says as Jordan extends the ticket for him to seat. He frowns and looks at her. "No way," He chuckles.
"What?" She frowns.
"You are the girl who has been hanging out with T," He smiles.
"And you know that just because of a ticket?" She wonders.
"He told me someone special is seating beside me at the game, and according to your ticket it's you unless you stole this," He laughs and she denies.
"Nah, lucky for you, it's me," She jokes and they start walking towards the entrance together.
Once they get inside the stadium, Jordan stops for food and drinks as Tyler walks with her like a bodyguard and he uses the time to get to know the girl, Tyler can tell she is someone special. On the other side, Jordan is quite enjoying this boy's company, he seems fun and more mature than his brother, by now she is having a good birthday.
The game starts and Jordan watches it closely, no idea what is going on but every time the men in red have the ball she just cheer like the rest of the public, Tyler just laughs at how she curses the hell out of the other players whenever there is a foul.
"It's pretty entertaining," She declares when half-time starts.
"I know," Tyler chuckles. "Have you found Trent yet?" He asks and she nods.
"Yeah, sixty-six," She mentions and he nods. As she is about to say something else, her phone starts buzzing, she excuses herself as she takes the call, her aunt from Scotland is calling. "Hello,"
"Happy birthday, darling!" She hears.
"Thank you,"
"How are you spending it? Are you at a party? There is a lot of noise there," She wonders.
"No, I'm at the stadium watching a game," She responds. "And you know, it's a normal day for me, thanks for calling anyway,"
"It's not, and you know your mother would have dropped a whole party herself for you," She adds.
"But mom is not here, so my birthday stays as a regular day, okay?" She spats, she hates how people always bring her up saying what she would be doing when no one really knew her that way.
"I'm sorry, Jordan," The middle-aged woman speaks calmly. "She would be proud of you, I hope you know that and I love you,"
"I love you too, thanks for the call," She repeats and cuts the call.
She doesn't think her mother would be proud of her, she wanted her daughter to go to college and be someone and she ended being just like her.
"Everything okay?" Tyler asks her and she nods as she gives him a smile and he decides not to insist any more.
The game is over after a few painful minutes of the team almost not winning the game which would have cost them the lead of the league.
The boy takes her to the parking lot under the stadium where they are meeting Trent before they have to go through security and the guy asks her for her ID.
"Here you go lady, happy birthday," The man speaks and gives her a smile making Tyler frown.
"Cheers," She smiles politely back.
"Why did he wish you a happy birthday?" Tyler asks while they're standing in front of Trent's car as the wait for him.
"Because it's my birthday today," She shrugs.
"Why didn't you tell me? Trent didn't tell me! I must have looked like an idiot the whole time," Tyler sighs.
"Trent doesn't know," She declares. "Don't worry, it's not a big deal," She smiles at him.
"What is not a big deal?" Trent wonders as he overheard the last part.
"It's her birthday," Tyler mentions.
"No, it's not," Trent replies.
"Show him your ID," Tyler rushes and she shrugs as she takes it out and shoves it into his face.
"What?" He spats as he takes it and looks at it closely. "Why didn't you tell me?" He frowns.
"Uhm, can I have it back?" She replies and he returns it still with furrowed eyebrows. "Because it's not important and you didn't ask," She explains.
"What?" Trent spats annoyed. "You have to tell me these things, I can't just guess them," He states.
"What do you want me to go shouting on the streets, it's my birthday bitches!" She mocks him. "No fucking way," She adds.
"This is unbelievable, you are unbelievable," He states and she smiles.
"I know, mate," She winks. "By the way, what an awful game," She states and Tyler laughs, she is really unbelievable.
