Chapter 53

Alex's POV

   Bang

  The noise of the gun rang throughout the empty warehouse. The man's body hit the ground with a loud thud causing just as much sound as the gun shot. Haven sat there shaking with fear and he cried. I dropped the gun and sprinted towards him. I untied him quickly. I was instantly pulled to him. 

   "I am so sorry Alex. I didn't know it was your parents." He sobbed. I nodded and cried with him. There was no way I could shoot him. Like Jacob said, he is my best friend. I told my parents I would avenge their death but killing my best friend is not how I could do it.

   "I-I forgive you." I stuttered out hugging him tighter.

   "I don't forgive myself though Alex. I could have killed you that day." He sobbed. I nodded but didn't say anything else. In the distant I could hear the noise of footsteps. I looked up at Jacob to see him looking down at me with sadness but also relief. I pulled away from Haven and walked over to Jacob. He opened his arms and I quickly walked into them.

   "Thank you for not shooting him." He said softly in my ear. I looked up at him and nodded.

    "You were right. He is my best friend. We all make mistakes, some make bigger mistakes than others. He was there for me when I was at my weakest. I would always forgive him." I said. He nodded and leaned down, pressing his lips to my forehead. 

   I leaned my head against his chest, watching as his fighters carried the old man out of the warehouse. This sadly was not my first kill, and being with Jacob I know for a fact it will not be the last. Killing is a last resort to me. Sometimes it just comes town to it and it is all you can do if you want to survive. That man's intentions were to kill me if I didn't kill Haven. I just knew it. 

   "Come on let's get you home." Jacob said leading me out of the warehouse. 

Jacob's POV

   I watched horrified as Alex pointed the gun towards Haven. That man's sinister smirk made me disgusted. All he wanted was for my beautiful Alex to was to kill Haven. I closed my eyes for a split second and the next thing I know there was a loud gunshot. 

   My eyes snapped open and looked at Haven. Then something caught my eye. The old man was holding his chest as blood began to stain the front of his blue polo shirt. My innocent Alex just killed a man in front of my eyes. The man hit the ground with a loud thud which rang off the walls of the warehouse. 

  Alex quickly dropped the gun and sprinted towards Haven. She untied him quickly. I watched as he tackled her into a hug. They were talking about something, nodding back in forth. She stood up and began making her way towards me. I instantly opened my arms for her, she walked into them quickly. 

   After watching my men take the body of the man away I walked her out of the warehouse, Haven following behind us. We got into my car, her sitting beside me. She was very quiet, but I would be too. She just found out her best friend killed her parents and killed a man in the time space of 30 minutes. 

  Alex's POV

   On the drive home Jacob kept his hand on my thigh. He was rubbing soothing circles, trying to stop the sobs that still raked my body. I wanted to stop crying, so I didn't seem weak but I couldn't. Tears just kept flowing the more I thought about today. 

  I didn't even realize we were back at the mansion until Jacob squeezed my thigh. I looked up and saw Haven reuniting with his friends. I looked over at Jacob to see him looking at me with sad eyes.

   "Come on. Let's get you inside." He said quietly.

   "I-I don't w-want to talk t-to them yet." I choked out. Jacob looked at me with sad eyes.

   "Pretend to be asleep. I will carry you in, they wont bother you." He said. I nodded and dropped my head back in the seat. I closed my eyes as I heard Jacob get out of the car and come around to my side. The door opened and Jacob snaked his hands around my still quivering body. 

    "Is she okay?" I heard Allie asked. Jacob pulled me closer to him.

    "She has had a rough day. I am gonna bring her up to the room to rest." I heard Jacob said. Within minutes I felt the all to comfortable mattress mold around my body.

    "Please don't leave me." I begged Jacob opening my eyes. He looked down at me and nodded. 

   "I would never." He said getting into the bed with me. He instantly pulled me to his chest. Tears still fell down my cheeks.

   "I almost killed him today Jacob. I almost killed my best friend." I cried hugging onto him tightly. He shushed me and rubbed soothing shapes on my back. 

   "You didn't kill him though Alex. He is alive and well. Everything is okay." He cooed. My body shook as I cried. I was never one to show my weak side to anyone, and here I am, crying on him. He didn't care though. He just holds me as I cried.

   "Jacob." I said quietly. He looked down at me. 

   "Hmm." He replied closing his eyes. 

    "I love you too." I said quietly. His eyes snapped open and he looked down at me.

      "I have loved you since our first kiss in the rain. Something about you is addicting to me. I tried to talk myself out of it but I couldn't. You smile, you looks, your body, everything is addicting to me. I never want to go through life without you anymore. You are my life Jacob. I love you." I said connecting my lips to his. Our lips moved in sync. 

   "I love you too Alex." He said connecting our lips once more.

   This is it. I finally gave my heart away to someone. This has been my biggest fear since I was just little. I am so glad that I found Jacob. His kisses, his hugs, his everything pulls me in. He protects me. He makes me feel safe once more. I have never felt at peace until I met him. He is my life, he is my everything. This is my life now. Living with the enemy who somehow captured my heart. This is my home. I am finally at peace.
