I was sleeping when I heard a weird noise. I got up then looked around. I got off my ledge and went to the cave entrance looking out.

I saw a light. It shone on me, making me hide. It shone on me again and I jumped back trying to shield from it. It then shone all in the cave and I reached up to feel its warmth on my hand. It then moved and I chased it around all through the cave careful to not wake anyone up. The light finally went away outside and I decided to follow it, so I moved the rock near the entrance with my feet a bit. I heard Grug move and I stopped.

He finally was still and I moved the rock a bit more then slid out the cave. I had my hand on the cave. I took a deep breath then took my hand off the cave entrance wall.

Light here I come!

I followed the light skillfully hopping and jumping off walls and over rocks. I saw a shadow. It was shaped like a warthog? Surprised, I picked up a rock and threw it at the shadow on the wall with a grunt. It hit the wall making a big echo noise and the shadow went away. I then decided to check out the top, so I climbed up the wall all the way to the top. I landed on the top and let out a growl. I saw little embers blowing in the wind. I was a bit confused at this until I saw the fire.

I walked closer to it. "What's this doing here?" I came closer to the fire and I looked at it from all different angles until I felt/saw someone behind me. I grabbed them and threw them to the ground, making the fire roll and go out some. I saw it was the warthog I saw earlier, well, the shadow of it. I grabbed a rock and held it up about to hit it until I saw... hands? I gasped and jumped back a bit. I cocked my head at this while the seemingly human took the warthog mask off.

I was correct! It was a human boy! A cute one too...

I smiled a bit while he cocked his head and smiled. I dropped the rock off to the side. We stared for a bit at each other. "Wow," he said. I jumped, a bit surprised. "Y-you talk?" I asked. "Of course I do. I'm a human like you," he said. I smiled a bit too happy. "Yay! Another human!" I hugged him ending up crushing him. He pushed me off him gasping for air.

"Oops, sorry. I sometimes forget my strength," I said while playing with my hair. He chuckled a bit saying it was fine. The fire was going out and he ran up to take care of it. "Wow. That's amazing," I said. "Thanks," he said sitting in front of it. I followed suit. "How do you make it?" I asked. "I make it by using rocks or sticks," he responded standing up. I pointed to the thing around his waist. "What's that?"

"This is Belt... cook, conversationalist, navigator and keeps my pants up," he said putting Belt on him after he somewhat saluted and made a little noise. "And I'm Guy," he said. "Guy?" I asked unimpressed. He nodded. "Who are you?"

"Oh, uh, Rose," I said. "That's a pretty name," he complimented. I blushed thanking him. Belt made some noises. "You think so? Listening shells, activate!" Him and Belt listened to the ground through some shells. "That's affirmative." He got up and grabbed my hand. "Rose, we have to leave," he said. "Whoa! Wait a minute!" I took my hand back. "Why?"

"To put it in simple terms. The world is ending. I'm calling it the end," he said dramatically. "Dun, dun, dun!" said Belt. I giggled a bit at this but then I looked at Guy doubtfully. He stood on a rock. "I'm serious about this. First, the ground is gonna shake then everything's gonna fall in fire, lava! I'm not trying to sound dramatic but, ah! Oh! Oh! Ah!" he said flailing his arms around. I kind of flinched/jumped at the noises he was making.

"All this we're standing on will be gone. We need to get to higher ground and I know a mountain that way. Come with me," he said holding his hand out and Belt did the same. I reached for his hand and was gonna take it but I remembered my family. I shouldn't abandon them after all they've done for me and they would be so worried about me. I took my hand back. "I can't," I said sadly. "Well, okay then." He shrugged a bit then he picked up his fire and warthog mask. "Here." He gave me a shell after blowing in it.

I took it from him. "If you survive..." He put his warthog mask on. "Call me." I blew in the shell making it let out a noise and I laughed, thanking him not knowing he was gone until I looked up. It was dark. "Hey!" There were a bunch of animal noises and I was kind of scared.

I backed up into someone. "Grug!" I said surprised. "Are you hurt?" he asked looking at me. "What took you?" I pushed him off. "I'm fine and nothing took me. I went out on my own," I said happily. "You... what?!" he asked madly.

"Look I know it sounds bad-"

Bear owl noise.

"Sshh!"

We hid from the bear owl.

"You never let me talk."

"You're grounded."

I groaned, falling limp in his arms.

Hm.

I'm trying to think of something for Rose to call Ugga and Grug until she feels comfortable with mom and dad. Calling them by name just seems rude.

Maybe... Mr and Mrs? I honestly don't know 😪
