"So Chloe," Ned started. "Tell us about yourself."
Everyone's attention went to Chloe after Ned had put her on the spot.
"Umm I'm 15 years old. I should be 21 but that whole blip thing happened to me." She lightly chuckled. "Ever since I was 11 until now I've lived in Russia because of... boarding school."
When Chloe finished everyone just stared at her. In a more this-girl-is-crazy way instead of a I-think-I-might-like-her way.
"But those are just the main things about me. Like what's been happening recently. If you want I can tell you the basics. Like my favorite food, and color." Her voice faded when she realized her rambling didn't do much help.
"I think I'll just shut up now." She grabbed her water and took a long sip while looking out the window."So, Peter." MJ said. "How come we've never heard about Chloe before?" MJ said flatly. Making it hard for me to pick out her emotion.
"Well as she said since Middle School she's been in Russia for the most part of her life." I stared at Chloe from across the table as I answered MJ's question. "Plus by the time I met you guys she was already, sort of, out of my memories."
"Gee thanks, Parker." Chloe said sarcastically.
"It's not like that." I replied quickly.
"I know. I know." Chloe said. She took another drink of her water.
Awkward silence filled our table. I looked around at everyone the table.
"I'm Peter's main guy, you know?" Ned said to Chloe. "We're pretty close. No one can top our friendship."
Chloe slowly nodded wondering what to say.
"Are you an FOS?" Asked Ned.
"A what?" Asked Chloe.
"An FOS. A Friend of Spider-Man?"
"Uhh I mean I guess." Said Chloe looking at me.
Silence filled the table again and I watched Chloe keep her eyes on the window.
"Yeah so I'm gonna go." Chloe said.
"What!" I said a bit to desperately. "Why? Please stay."
"Peter, this is a bit to um awkward for me. I don't really fit in with you guys. It'd be better if I wasn't around." Chloe said grabbing her stuff.
"Hey, come on. No one really knows you yet. I promise you'll fit in soon." I said throwing my hands up.
"No thanks, Pete. I'll see you at home, though. Bye, everyone nice meeting you."
I watched her grab her things. I watched her walk out of the cafe. I watched her smile fade as she walked down the sidewalk.
Chloe's POV
I knocked on the door and waited for May to answer. She greeted me with a smile on her face that disappeared once she saw there wasn't a smile on my face.
"Hey, May." I said softly.
"Hey, sweetheart. What's wrong?" She asked. "Is Peter here?"
"Nope. Just me." I said as I walked pass her and sat on living room couch. "It was so awkward, you know." I let my face fall into my hands. "They wanted to know about me so I just rambled on about stupid stuff. And then there were these moments where we all just stayed silent. A- and I know I'll never fit in with them. And I guess they're the only other friends I have that aren't Peter. And that girl! MJ! I feel like she doesn't like me at all. I just- I don't- I can't.
"Alright, calm down." May said rubbing my back.
"May, I can't calm down."
"Yes, you can. There'll be more interactions with you and Peter's other friends. So don't beat yourself up about this one. It's only the first one there will be other chances for them to like you."
"What if they don't?"
"I doubt they won't like you. You got this ok. It's only round 1."
"Ok." I said breathing heavily.
Only round 1.
