Lila's POV

"Walk around." I told everyone. "Spread out. Look for her. If we're gonna do this, we have to do it quickly and calming. Blend in. Make it seem like you're one of them."

"This is a pretty big city." My aunt told me. "We can't be here for too long. Her parents will find us if they find out. I'm pretty sure you know something about Chloe that will make this process quicker?"

"Her friend. She used to talk about him all the time. He lives here. Peter. Peter Parker."

"And where do we find this Peter Parker?"

"On the news, I saw something, about Peter. They say he's Spider-Man. Spider-Man is an Avenger."

"Then we'll go to the Avengers tower." My aunt said.

Peter's POV

When I got home, May and Chloe were on the couch giggling and watching TV. They went silent when they saw it was me.

"Hey, Pete." May said.

I gave a weak smile and slightly waved at her. I kept my eyes trained on Chloe.

"Well I'll be in the kitchen. Just gonna get something to drink." May said.

"Hi." I said lightly.

"Hey."

"Listen, about earlier. Don't even worry about it. My friends are super nice, and cool and I promise they'll end up liking you soon. I know it was really awkward but it's ok. Awkward is the fun part of life."

"Peter, it being awkward wasn't the reason why I left." Chloe said.

"It wasn't?"

"No. Well it was part of the reason but it wasn't the main reason. I left because," She paused. "Because I'm scared."

"Scared? Of what?" I asked

"Out of my entire friend group, I was the only one that blipped. When I came back, they all had grown apart from me and started being rude to me. So I was alone. By myself. And your friends didn't seem to like me that much. Especially MJ."

MJ? Oh no.

"So I was afraid that letting them in would just be a repeat of my other friends."

"You don't have to worry about that." I said taking her hands, "They haven't seen the real you yet. Once they do we'll all be friends and everything will be great." I said.

"Yeah, I- I don't think I want them to see the real me, Peter." Chloe said looking down at her legs, my hands still in hers.

"What do you mean? Why not."

"I'm a monster, Pete."

"What are you talking about, Chloe? You're not a mon-"

"I've killed people." She said quickly interrupting me.

I let my hands slowly slip from hers after I processed what she had said.

"Boarding school, wasn't really boarding school. It's a school, where kids learn to become assassins." She said finally looking up at me, tears falling from her eyes. "I did horrible things. And they called me horrible things. That's why I did what I did. They did horrible things to me. But I did what they wanted. Still think I'm not a monster?"

"I've killed people. Because it's my job. Mostly aliens, but I've killed a person. If you're a monster, then I'm a monster."

"But Peter you didn't have a choice. I did."

"It doesn't matter. We're still the same. Come here." I whispered.

I embraced Chloe in a hug. Hugging her tightly ensuring her everything would be ok.

"They, um," Chloe started, "They sterilized me. So I can't-"

"I know." I interrupted.

"I didn't even know if I wanted any. But they made that decision for me. They called it 'the graduation ceremony'. They only did it so nothing would get in the way of me," She trailed off. "You know."

"Nothing makes you any different than I am. If we've both killed people, we're exactly the same." I said.

Nothing changes that.
