Jasper still stood smoking his pipe when I got back. Didn't he do anything else?
One look at me and his face turned into a painting of annoyance. "Here you come again briniging more papers with you."
I dismounted Blaze and held out tge letters to Jasper.
"Let me have a look at that." He muttered and something in his expression changed. "I do recognized that handwriting..." He looked up at me. His eyes shining with unshed tears. "Is it true?" He asks in a raspy voice. "Are they actually written by my Catherine?"
I nodded silently.
Jasper shook his head. "I have been so foolish, and it has cost me my grandson..."
He gave me a faint smile. "I do indeed have the deeds you are looking for and Thomas Moorland shall have them. Mr Kembell is a disgrace to this island."
"Thank you. I know Justin will be happy to-"
"Don't ruin this girl." He cut me off. "Here's the key to my deposit box in Fort Pinta, you can pass my land and get it, but I would appreciate if you don't tell Moorland about this."
I ride and got the papers.
Jasper chuckled as I returned his key. "Well wbat do you know. Looks like my frosty heart is now warm after twenty years in the cold."
Thomas Moorland were busy chasing away a snopy GDE man when I finally returned.
"Holy Horses!" He gaped at me as I handed over the deeds. I lauged a bit uncomfortable as he hugged me.
"I owe you more than I could ever repay you, Moa. I'll show this to the city council and Mr Kembell will have no choice but to stop building."It was a while before I next saw Jasper but when I did he was waving to me, smoking his pipe.
I approached warily, not completely sure if I wanted to get involved deeper into the Moorland-Holbrook family drama.
"Young Lady." He greeted me. "If you would honor an old man, take this letters and this amulet that belonged to his mother, to Justin. Tell him... Tell him I would like to see my grandchild as soon as possible. It's not much to repair the wrongs of twenty years but I guess it's my way of saying I'm sorry."Justin hugged me so tightly when I got back I thought I would never be able to breath again. "Oh gosh!" He smiled at the amulet. "You have no idea how happy this makes me, Liza. And I would like to say it's all because of you. I swear you will always have a place at Moorland Stables."
