Death of Mary Winchester, mother of three, was the point in their life when everything started going downhill. John, blinded by the desire to avenge his dead wife, started devouring books like a food, learning all he could about supernatural, about witchcraft and their foul doings. For it was a witch that killed his wife and burned their house. Mary Winchester nee Kinkle came from the family of witch-hunters. She, from the very early years, was raised to kill, shoot first, ask questions never. She didn't want her children growing in the same life, without childhood, but John Winchester's anger blinded him, to his wife's desires and he raised his boys to be ruthless witch-hunters, preaching about satan-worshipping heretics and how the only way to cleanse their souls, was to kill them.

They were constantly moving, never staying in one place for too many times, this caused Lux to never have any friends. She was too young to be trained, so she was mostly left alone, with a gun, just in case, while her father and brothers went away on so-called hunts.

When Lux was 6, her family went away on another hunt, leaving her alone, the moment they left, the lights went out. Darkness always scared looks, so she prayed and wished for light. She opened her eyes and noticed a brilliant glow emitting from her hand, displaying all the colors of the rainbow. Her awe was short-lived the moment the young girl realized that she was doing magic. Raw fear and panic overtook her, luckily for her her family was gone for 2 more days, giving her enough time to compose herself and experiment with her powers. She realized that if she wanted to live, her family could never find out about this, about her magic. So she started being very careful, not to display any emotions, for she noticed that they triggered her powers when her family went on hunts she practiced her powers.
