after an eventful afternoon
being pelted with snow balls, everyone
was snuggled in the living room
with some hot cocoa. a netflix christmas
movie was playing quietly on the
living room tv. sawyer is napping
peacefully on luna's lap.
svea: i've decided that my new goal in life is to find a career as a reporter, sneak into a royal's castle, pretend to be a tutor for the princess, and end up marrying the prince.
esther: if the prince is as handsome as him (points to screen), then sign me up.
luna: agreed.
jonah looks at luna
with a raised eyebrow.
she smiles sheepishly.
luna: kidding!
the front door opens and
jonah's parents, timothy
and carrie, walk in. the siblings
get up to greet their parents,
and luna follows close behind.
jonah: mom, dad!
carrie: aw jonah honey, we've missed you!
tim: welcome back, son. hope you're still used to the cold!
jonah: of course, dad. won't ever get tired of being home!
there's a really small
pause, and luna uses
this opportunity to
greet them.
luna: hi, mr. and mrs. frantzich. i'm luna, it's so great to finally meet the both of you!
luna reaches out her
hand for them to shake, but
instead, carrie pulls her into a hug.
carrie: we've heard so, so many great things about you. thank you for taking care of my jonah bug. (jonah cringes) oh, and none of the formalities. hon, you're family to us now.
tim reaches in for a hug
as well. luna feels like a
weight has been lifted off
her shoulders. everything
that she had been worried
about was all for nothing.
tim: she's right. you're one of us now, and we're going to have to convert you to the twins and the vikings now, aren't we?
luna: well, you've got your work cut out for you. when i'm a fan of something, i'm a diehard for life.
tim: oh, i don't know. svea can be pretty convincing.
svea: they're not wrong!
luna: we'll see about that!
luna laughs. that was
never going to happen.
obviously.
carrie: alright, i'm going to prepare dinner. esther, svea, can i get a hand please?
esther, svea: (in unison) yes, mom!
luna: i'm going to get the rest of my stuff up to the guest room.
jonah: here, i'll help.
tim: no funny business, jo!
jonah groans with
embarrassment. luna
stifles a laugh.
jonah: yes, dad.
the two of them get the
rest of the stuff up to the
guest room and they plop
down on the bed. jonah
pulls luna into his arms and
she nuzzles into his neck.
jonah: hey, what did i say? i knew they were going to love you.
luna: yeah, yeah. Pause. thank you for doing this. bringing me here. i've forgotten what it feels like to have a family for thanksgiving and i'm so happy.
jonah: of course, lu. i never want you to feel alone because i care about you. so much.
luna: i care about you, too. i'll always have your back. no matter what.
jonah breathes in deeply.
this was the moment. he
was finally going to tell
luna he loves her.
jonah: luna?
luna: mhmm?
jonah: i want to tell you that—well, i mean there's a lot more that i want to say but i—
svea knocks and bursts
into the room.
svea: dinner's ready!
jonah: alright, we'll be right down!
luna: what were you saying?
jonah: oh, uh—
jonah stumbles. the moment
was ruined, and now was
not the right time anymore.
jonah: i wanted to tell you that i'm really really glad you're here.
luna beams and hugs him tightly.
luna: i'm really glad i'm here, too. now, come on. all the ass-kicking i gave you during our snowball fight really got me starved!
luna heads out the door
and he can hear her quick
footsteps on the stairs.
he smiles to himself.
he really loved that girl to pieces.
and he vowed he'd find
the right time to tell her that.

A/N: i'm back!!!
i'm so, SO sorry this took
incredibly long 😭 the holidays
got super hectic and looking for a
full-time job on top of all of it has
got me so stressed out lol. eben was right;
they say money can't buy you happiness
but sis do i NEED it 🥴
anyways, I'll try and update regularly
like i did before! I know I announced
the jonah Christmas story and i'm so
sad i never got to get to it. i'm going to
put that on hold in the meantime.
i'm also in the midst of writing
an autobiography about my life
which should be *very* fun but i'm
going to prioritize this story first.
