Fort

I built this fort
To help my sister fall asleep
We played with pillows
We sang softly
Telling stories far too late

I built this fort
To build a chamber of truth
Of trust between us
So she'd remember me
When I walked away
And she was alone

I built this fort
To create fun times
So we could bottle up our childhood
But nothing lasts forever
And when she walked away
I was alone

I built this fort
So she'd remember me
But now she's gone
And I sing softly to soulless pillows
As I try to fall asleep.
