Chapter fifteen

I wake up to birdsong. It's almost winter, and I haven't heard any wildlife around here recently. I look out of the window to see a robin perched on the tree outside my window. Oh my gosh, it's December 1st! I stretch and wipe the sleep out of my eyes, before getting up to get ready. I braid my hair, apply a little makeup, then change out of my snow leopard onesie into a dark green hoodie dress. I also slip on some tights, to keep my legs warm. I grab my vlog camera and switch it on.

Me: "Hey guys! I haven't picked up my camera in a few months, sorry! I've been so busy. Anyway, it's December 1st! I'm gonna go wake Kathryn up."

I continue filming and walk to Kathryn's room and drum rhythmically on her door, before waltzing in. She's still asleep so I jump on her.

Kathryn: "Uugh get off me, you big lump."

I slide off her but wrap my free hand around her. My camera is still trained on her.

Kathryn: "Ah you've dragged that old thing out have you? I'm surprised it doesn't have cobwebs dangling off of it."
Me: "Oh shut up! I know I haven't used it in a while..."
Kathryn: "A while? Feels like a bloody decade!"
Me: "Anyway, do you know what day it is?"
Kathryn: "Monday?"
Me: "No. Well, yes. Oh, come off it Kathryn! You know exactly what I'm on about here."
Kathryn: "Yeah, the first. I've been counting down to Christmas since last year!"
Me: "I know. What are we doing today?"
Kathryn: "Not sure. Is it just us today?"
Me: "Pretty sure, unless the boys join us later." I start talking to the camera. "By the way guys, we made some new friends! You may meet them, you may not. Probably due a life update video though, to be honest." I shut the camera off, and drag Kathryn out of her bed.
Me: "Come ooonnnn let's go make breakfast!"

Fifteen minutes later and I'm sat next to a now dressed Kathryn in the living room. I'm stuffed after eating a bacon sandwich that Kathryn made for me. 

Me: "Kathryn, can we go on a walk? I'm actually so full, I need to walk it off."
Kathryn: "Yeah, can do."

We stand up and put on our coats. I pair my outfit with some black ankle boots. Grabbing my keys and phone, I swing open the door to see a figure there. I smile and as I'm about to talk to her, she pushes past me and sits on the sofa.

Me: "Umm, can I help you?"
Kathryn: "Can you get out of our house please?"
Eleanor: "You missed our meeting earlier."
Me: "Oh, Eleanor. Sorry, I'm not interested in a meeting with you."
Eleanor: "You're already on thin ice, young lady."
Me: "What the hell? Don't speak to me like you're my mother! I said I'm not interested in a meeting with you. In fact, I'm not even sure I want to pursue this career."
Eleanor: "You signed a contract, making me your agent. You are in no way backing out now."
Me: "When did I sign a contract?"
Eleanor: "At your interview."
Me: "That was a contract? It was a blank piece of paper that I was told I had to sign to complete the interview."
Eleanor: "I have the contract right here." She holds up some paper with a bunch of writing on, and sure enough, my signature is on the bottom.
Me: "I did not sign that paper. You've photocopied it and that's fraud! Either stop contacting me, or I will sue you."
Eleanor: "Surely you want me as your agent? There can be another way? Most people don't look at what they're signing!"
Me: "Whatever. Get out of my house."

She leaves and Kathryn looks at me. We burst out laughing for a few minutes, before Kathryn calls the police, just to be on the safe side. I have no idea what just happened. Some people really are dodgy.

Kathryn currently on her way back from the shop. she went to collect some snacks and then we're going to watch some movies. I'm scrolling through Instagram dm's when she comes through the door. I'm just about to switch my phone off when one catches my eye.

Me: i'm sorry, what do you mean?
Chloekitty3000: OMG! You replied!
me: of course I did. Now, what cover are you talking about?
Chloekitty3000: the Someone You Loved cover with RoadTrip of course! Why are you confused? Is it because we have more covers headed our way? YAY!
Me: what? No! How'd you hear the cover?
Chloekitty3000: on RoadTrip's YT channel!
Me: okay. Thanks x
Chloekitty3000: no problem! Can you follow me?

Me: "Kathryn?"
Kathryn: "Yeah?"
Me: "The boys posted the cover..."
Kathryn: "Ooh yay! What do people think of it?"
Me: "I couldn't care less. They shouldn't have put it out - I told them I didn't want it out."
Kathryn: "Oh. Well, surely they only put it out because it's good?"
Me: "I'm not bothered about that. I didn't. Want. It. Out."
Kathryn: "We'll talk to them, I'll tell them to take it out. On the bright side, I got an advent calendar!" My throat starts to burn.
Me: "Thanks."

I walk into my room, preparing myself for the panic attack.
