Chapter twenty five

It's the last day before the boy's travel back home to be with their parents. If I'm being honest, I'm genuinely going to miss them all so much. Me and Kathryn have decided that we'll go back to our hometown too - we live about half an hour away from each in the same city, so I'm going to drive us both back. As it's our last day all together for two weeks, we've decided to have an early Christmas. I choose to wear my hair down for once and loosely curl the ends. I apply basic but glowy makeup with a dark red lip. I tug on black leggings and a random hoodie from my wardrobe. I check myself out in the mirror and realise im actually wearing Brook's red hoodie that I wore the other day. I look good today. I pull on some black ankle boots and I leave the house, locking up behind me. I get into the passenger side of the car. Kathryn's taking me to get our nails done.

Kathryn: "What time is it? Are we going to be late for our appointment?"
Me: "Chill out, girl. Its half eight - the salon isn't even open yet."
Kathryn: "Okay. I can't wait!"
Me: "Me too!"

I end up getting coffin nails that are dark red (matching my lipstick) with two accent fingers. My index finger is striped with white diagonally to replicate candy canes and on my ring fingers, I've got silver glitter. Kathryn got simple white on all her nails but got silver snowflakes on her ring finger.

Kathryn: "So what did you get? OOH! They're so pretty! I was gonna do something like that originally, but I don't really wear a lot of red and I didn't think it would really go with the clothes that I wear."
Me: "Yeah, I was thinking about that too, I'm just gonna wear all my red stuff - especially seeing as though it's Christmas. I don't really mind if they go or not as long as they don't clash." I check the time on my phone. "Shit its nearly ten. The boys will be here soon and I need to change!"
Kathryn: "Stop panicking, it's only the boys. What's wrong with what you're wearing?"
Me: "I'm not wearing Brook's hoodie to celebrate Christmas."
Kathryn: "That's Brook's hoodie? It looks so good on you - I never would have guessed. I love that." She pulls into the driveway, laughing.

I stumble out of the car and leg it to the door, pushing my key in the lock so abruptly that it snaps.

Me: "Are you shitting me right now?"
Kathryn: "What did you do..?" She sighs.
Me: "I put my key in and then it just snapped!"
Kathryn: "Well someone was eager to get in. What are we gonna do? We can't get in if half of the keys in the lock."
Me: "I'll have to call somebody to come sort it." I do so, explaining the situation and then hang up in frustration.
Kathryn: "What happened?"
Me: "He won't come to sort it until after the New Year! What are we gonna do?" 
Andy: "You guys okay?"
Me: "Where the fuck did you come from?"
Andy: "Woah! Calm down. You told us to come to yours for ten, and it's five past."
Me: "Sorry, I'm just stressing. We're locked out of the bloody house because I'm an idiot. Snapped the key." I eye Brook walking up to me.
Andy: "Don't stress it's okay." He pulls me into a hug. Kathryn explains the situation to Brook, Sonny, Rye and Jack.
Rye: "Well we can go back to ours, right? Stay over."
Me: "But what about the stuff that we need to take home?"
Kathryn: "We're going home, you've got clothes you left behind, right?"
Me: "Yeah, not any nice ones though."
Kathryn: "And we can always go shopping. Everything else will be at your mum's."
Me: "What about makeup?"
Brooklyn: "You look great without it."
Me: "Even if I did, I still want to wear it."
Brooklyn: "Just buy some essentials."
Me: "I don't have my purse with my money in."
Rye: "Don't you normally take that everywhere with you?"
Kathryn: "Yeah but we just went out to get our nails done and I paid. We alternate who pays every time we go and it was my turn this time so she didn't need it."
Sonny: "You got Apple Pay?"
Me: "Yes... I don't really use it though"
Sonny: "That should help a little, maybe not everything but it's something, right?" 
Me: "Yeah okay. Let's go back to yours."
