A soft hand was placed on her thigh, reassuring her that everything will be okay. However, it was hard to believe that in the situation that they were currently in.

The hand that he placed there was a warming one, and it squeezed her slightly—in the most comforting way possible. He was always one to show how he felt with both his emotions and actions: something she could never do. With his outward feelings, she always knew exactly how he felt, but she hated how annoying it was. . . But it still somehow remained kind of nice to know at least one of them knows what they want.

Surprisingly, she didn't pull away from his sweet grasp on her pale thigh. She actually quite liked being touched. . . It was nothing like his touch. Whenever he touched her, it felt like a soothing feeling that was spreading throughout her body.

Today had been an incredibly difficult day for her; everything just seemed to be crumbling down that was already within reach.

Before she could get any more agonizing thinking in, he spoke: "I'm sorry... about him." His tone sounded frail, almost like he was contemplating whether or not to speak. She huffed away a piece of her blue hair that was in her way. "But, just believe me when I say: you're perfect. And you don't need no man to make you happy."

His funny tone never ceased to amaze her. Even in situations like these, he was still one of the funniest people she's ever met—if not the funniest. The tone lightened up her mood, almost taking her attention away from her previous thoughts. However, her mind still lingered about what happened.

The guy that she thought she was going to be with forever had broken up with her just several hours ago. And the whole day she was trying her best not to let the tears fall from her eyes, but when she caught a sight of him in the hallway just a few minutes ago, she couldn't help but feel the tears stinging in the corners of her eyes.

She really did like him, and the words he said to her to break up with her still drew about in her consciousness: "I know that you don't love me like you think you do. . . I see the way you look at him." Her mind had a clue of what he meant, but how could he think that.

With her mind wandering about, she didn't realize the man sitting next to her with worried eyes. "Katelyn, are you gonna be okay?" He always has her on the brain, never thinking about what he wants, but only thinking about if she was okay... something that Jeffery never did.

Her piercing blue eyes gazed up at his contorted face. He showed her all the mercy in the world, even if he knew that she was stronger than him in most ways, just not always mentally. He always had a better way at expressing his feelings than her, for he always said everything that was on his mind. Which wasn't always a good thing. She used her anger to conger her feelings, which sometimes resulted in not the best outcomes.

"Yeah. I'll be fine," she answered, a thin tear streaming down her paling face. However, that answer didn't do him justice. He knew how much she was hurting, and the thought of her having taking it out on herself was bad. She never did that.

Her hands went down to her pleated skirt in a shaky manner. She played with the rim of it, trying to keep her sadness welled up in her fingertips instead of taking it out on him and accidentally showing him how much she was hurting.

He saw the pain in the way she played with her skirt. Sighing, he knew how much she hated wearing those skirts, and he thought that if she wanted to wear the boy's uniform, than that shouldn't be as much of a problem as it is. He remembered her trying to rip her skirt up so she could get out of it so she wouldn't have to wear it, but her boyfriend—ex—had told her not to. His heart was in the right place, but Travis would've gladly given her a spare if the school's pants if she really did end up ripping it. The whole thing was sexist in of itself.

He grasped on to her shaky hand in a almost failed attempt to stop her from worrying. His hands soothingly rubbed over the pale skin on her fingers, trying so desperately to make her calm down. He hated seeing her so torn apart and broken as if she were just an object. One thing that he promised himself was to never break this girl's heart.

Katelyn was never one to show her feelings to anyone, so when she had finally gotten a boyfriend, everyone was surprised. Except for Travis. He knew how much she liked him, even if he did only speak to her a few times a day, he just knew. The way her eyes lit up once he saw him talking to others in the hall, or when she saw the beam of jealousy radiating from her form whenever he talked to other girls. Travis knew he had no shot of winning her over once she saw all of this, so he had to let her go in hopes of seeing her happy. But when she got hurt but the one she loved, he knew that if Jeffery couldn't make her happy, neither could he.

She was sitting still, gripping onto her pleated skirt the same way she does when she didn't study for a quiz. Travis knew almost all of her behavior, and he prides himself on being one of her friends. She was his best friend, but to him, she was nothing more than a study buddy, but he still was happy with ever being able to be close to the girl he so desperately wanted to be with.

Her tears were almost completely stopped now that he was massaging her fingers. She loved how he could calm her down that easily. . . That's something no one besides him could do.

"Travis?" Her words came out a little more sad than intended, but he didn't mind. His attention was now fully focused on her reddened face. "Jeffry said—" he knew how much she hated his name now, "that he broke up with me because he thought I loved someone else," she put it bluntly.

A soft "oh" passed his lips.

"Yeah, but he knows that I don't." Her words souses almost fake, and it couldn't have fooled Travis one bit.

"Well, do you like someone else? 'Cause I know that you've looked at other people in the hallway, and I'm not saying that you would ever cheat on anyone, but I notice who you look at." He rambled too much information. She knew that he noticed things, but never that much. Always thinking that he saw what she liked, like her favorite food or color, but never this much. It was kind of cute.

"I don't know if I love anyone else. I mean, I could see myself with somebody else besides Jeffery at this school, but that would never happen." They both seemed crushed under that statement. She knew it was bad to like someone else, and he knew that she didn't like him.

He decided to completely ignore what she just said. "Katelyn? Do you wanna skip school? I'm not in the mood to be around anymore right now, and I hate seeing you hurt, so I think we should just go to my house or something." He never was one to skip, so this was strange behavior for him. However, she also didn't want to be here.

"We can skip," she said with no emotion whatsoever. "And I don't want to go to my house, so your house would be fine." They were both extremely heartbroken that day, but they both knew that they would have each other for as long as they stay friends and don't cross boundaries, so from that day forward, they would remain just friends.
