Sara’s POV

A few hours later everyone else woke up and came downstairs. I made breakfast and Mitch came in to eat. Everyone ate and went upstairs to get ready for the pool while I was left to clean the dishes. I sighed and started when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped and when I turned around and saw Mitch I laughed slightly.

“Mitch you scared me.” I said as I began to fill the sink.

“Why aren’t you using the dishwasher?” He asked and pointed to the dishwasher.

“I think that cleaning by hand works better and it gets a lot cleaner.” I said and took my ring off. I placed it on the sink and grabbed the sponge.

“So are you gonna leave me to do all the cleaning or are you going to help me?” I asked and looked at him. He shrugged.

“Sure, I’ll help ya. I don’t want to be a jerk.” He said and began helping me dry the dishes and put them away.

“So you still have the ring…” He said as we were halfway done.

“I do…it was the only thing I had left of you. The shirt you left behind disappeared from my room the day you left.” I said as I handed him a large knife. The point was a centimeter from his face.

“Wait you had one of my shirts?”

“Yep. Now take the knife or get stabbed in the foot when I drop it.” I said with smirk and I began waving the knife in his face. He grabbed it out of my hand and dried it off.

“Ok…trip to the hospital eluded,” His voice cracked slightly when he said that, “anyway, why had you have one of my shirts?” He said and I sighed.

“Yes I did. You left it at my place when we were dating and I didn’t find it till I left for college. It still had your cologne even after months of me having it.” I said and handed him a pot.

“Huh…” He said and I looked at him out of the corner of my eye as he dried the pot.

“So…do you still have my necklace?” I asked and I saw him freeze.

“I…do…”

“And…does it mean anything to you like the ring does for me?” I asked as I took out another knife.

“Hold on a sec…” I said and grab be the knife sharpener.

“This is dull.” I said as I sharpened the knife. I looked up at Mitch and I saw him gulp.

“Well…to me it’s just a necklace.” I froze as I swiped one more time and I heard the scrap echo slightly.

“W…what?” I asked and looked at him.

“Well…I lost all love for you after I gave the ring to you. You’re just a friend now and the necklace is just a necklace now.” I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I walked over to the chopping block.

“Mitch…you see…I’ve suffered so much because of you. We both have played with each other…and hurt each other.” My eyes snapped open and I saw his eyes widen as my grip tightened on the handle.

“Mitch…a nerve snapped just now…just letting you know…and know this…hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” I said and raised the knife. I then brought it down with a lot of strength and it went all the way into the two inch, hard wood chopping block.

“Now I need to calm down.” I said and walked out of the kitchen.
