Mitch’s POV
As the car idled at a red light I thought back to when I opened the door. I remembered the car since It was at the end of the drive and I could barely make out the license plate. The car looked new and…well I suspected that she just used my phone to contact someone for shelter. After the light turned green I turned, pulled over and pulled out my phone.
“What are you doing? Now’s not the time for texting!” Sara said and I shushed her. Her eyes widened and I went into the call log.
“Did you just shush me? You do not shush me boy.” She said with a sassy tone in her voice and I rolled my eyes as I grabbed a piece of paper and pen out of the glove box. I jotted down the number quickly and I went into a phone tracing app.
“Hey are you listening? What are you doing anyway?”
“Sara can you be quiet for a few seconds. I’m busy here. I’m tracing the phone number that was dialed. It wasn’t a tow truck company by the way. It was a Alicia Caral and…ok have her address.” I then drove off down the road. After ten minutes We were halfway there according to the map on the phone screen. Sara found out the young girls name. Her name was Krissy Williams. We pulled up to the street that the house was on and slowly went down it. I saw the car that the girl was driving and stopped the car a couple houses down.
“Ready?” Sara asked and I nodded. I grabbed the knife, my phone and Sara grabbed her guns then put one in her back pocket. She then placed a silencer on the one in her hand. We walked slowly and quietly down to the house and the lights were on inside. We got to the door and I counted to three under my breath. I kicked the door in and when the two of rushed inside we saw the girl along with a girl that looked like she was in her twenties. They both looked high as hell as well. I saw some drugs on the table and I went off to check the house. After I didn’t find anyone else I took out my phone.
“Don’t you two move! I will shot!” They were shaking and I noticed that one of the drugs was crack. I sighed as I dialed 911 and put the phone up to my ear.
“911 What’s your emergency?” I heard a woman say over the phone.
“A friend and I found out where that young lady who killed her grandmother and cousin is staying. It also seems like they have been smoking Crack and what looks like cocaine.”
“Wait you two have them in your custody?”
“Well we took some initiative and made a citizen’s arrest.”
“Ok sir. Just tell us the address and an officer will be there shortly.” I told her the address and hung up after the call finished. I went up to the girl and looked at her eyes when I knelt down. They were bloodshot and the pupils were dilated. I then took her hand and saw Sara’s ring. I took it off and saw the engraving. It matched.
I then stood up and went to Sara’s side. After ten minutes a police car pulled up and when the officer came in it was the same one that we spoke to earlier.
“You two? You two were the one’s who found her?” We nodded and he smiled slightly.
“Well…thank you for your help.” He then pulled out and photo and looked at it then at the girl.
“Yep that’s her. I guess you got your ring back?” Sara nodded and I held it up. He nodded and a couple more officers walked in. After a half hour. the girl, her friend and the cops were gone. We went back to the car with the ring still in my hand. We drove back and after we got inside Sara turned around and stopped me.
“Mitch…can I have the ring back now…” I held my palm up looked at the ring then back at her.
“No…” She turned pale slightly.
“W-what?”
“You’re not getting it back. Not now anyway.” I then took my gun out of her back pocket, stepped back then walked past her. I looked at the ring as I walked up the stairs. I felt a long dead feeling spark up slightly as I stared at it. I went into my room, put the gun in the safe, closed and covered it, locked the door and sat on the edge of my bed in the dark. I heard feet running up the stairs and along with the slam of a door. I then looked at the ring in my hand.
“I guess you brought the feeling back didn’t you…you little piece of metal that I put all my love for Sara in and disappeared after I gave you to her. When I held you in my hand after I got you of that girls hand you made all my love for her return…” I said as I held it with two fingers.
“My love for her feels like a curse…and after getting rid of it you brought it back. You of all things…even her necklace didn’t do that…it’s just…surreal. I feel like I’m just dreaming but I know that i’m awake.” I said as I laid back and held my arm up. I started at the small circle of metal decorated with gems. I felt the fire of love spark to life again in my heart…and I felt it burn bright.
The long dead feeling of love…had came back with a vengeance.
