Chapter 12

*A week later a day before new year’s*

Sara’s POV

Everyone’s family’s had left a few days earlier, Mitch and I were leaving for the airport in an hour and Maddi, Enti and Asiya, who came here for christmas, were helping me pack.

“So you and Mitch are back together?” She asked and I nodded. Jess was sitting on my pillow watching us.

“I guess third times the charm. I know you two love each other…and since he’s going this far to make you happy he seems to be serious about this.” Maddi said and I laughed slightly.

“He is. I really want it to work this time.” I said as Asiya started to pet Jess.

“You two are going to a mountain top lodge where you two can ski, snowboard and do other things. I think it will work. Just don’t have too much fun.” Asiya said and I blushed slightly as I thought about it. I shook my head and continued to pack.

“Y-yeah we’ll try.” I said and laughed slightly.

“You know Maddi I can’t believe Jerome bought you a baby tiger and actually brought it into the house.” Asiya said and I held in a laugh.

“I can’t either. It was certainly a surprise but Lizzy is now at the zoo. At least I can go visit her.” Maddi said as we closed my two suitcases.

“Jerome does know that you need a license to own any animals like tigers right?” Asiya asked as she went into my closet.

“He didn’t know until I told him.” I said as I sat one one of my suitcases and Maddi sat on the other one. Asiya came out of the closet with my ski’s under one of her arms, my ski poles in one of here hands and my snowboard in the other.

“Sara I heard that after moving out here you switched what you were originally studying to something else, what was it?” Asiya asked as she placed the ski’s, ski poles and the snowboard in my duffle.

“Mixology.” I said and both of them looked at me.

“What the hell is mixology?” They asked at the same time as I struggled to zip the bag, that I was sitting on, closed.

“You guys know bartenders at bars and clubs right? Those are mixologists.” I said as I finally got it closed. I got off the suitcase and Maddi tried to close the other bag.

“You need a license to serve drinks at bars?” Asiya asked as she zipped up my duffle.

“Well not always but if you want to get a job at a bar easily you have to get the license by studying mixology at a college and it does take a while.” I said as I helped Maddi close the other suitcase.

“Oh…” Maddi said.

“Yep, plus I’m actually a lot better at it than what I was originally studying for. I’m actually top of the class.” I said as I grabbed the suitcases when Maddi got off the second suitcase. Asiya grabbed the the duffle and handed it to me. I sighed, put one of the suitcases down, put the duffle’s strap on my shoulder then grabbed the suitcase I put down. Maddi opened the door for me and I looked back at Jess. I whistled and she jumped off my bed then walked with me as I walked out of my room.

“Snow here I come I yelled with a smile and ran. As I was about to step onto the stairs I slipped. I screamed and fell down the stairs. After I got to the bottom of the stair I groaned and sat up.

“Stupid stairs!” I yelled. I saw Jess jump onto my lap and she licked my face. She got off and I got up slowly.

“Sara are you ok?” Mitch asked in a concerned as he came out of the kitchen.

“Yeah. The stairs just hate me today.” I said and walked over to the door. I placed my bags by the door and I walked over to Jess’s carrier, put her in and walked over to Mitch.

“You ready?” I asked Mitch and he nodded.

“Bags are already in the car. You got the tickets?” He asked and I patted my side pocket.

“Ok let’s go.” Mitch said and we headed for the door.

“Mitch why can’t we go with you again!?” I heard Adam yell from the kitchen.We looked back to see the guys run out of the kitchen.

“Because we only have two tickets, I reserved a room for two and also because Sara and I need some alone time.” Mitch said and we turned around. We headed out, loaded the bags into the trunk and placed the carrier with Jess, some water and some food in the back then got in with Mitch driving. Mitch then drove off towards the airport and I looked back at Jess who was having a hard time standing up in the carrier.

“Mitch I think Jess wants out for a little bit more.” I said as I saw Jess failing at trying to stand up.

“Did you feed her the tranquilizer?” Mitch asked. I looked forward and face palmed. I looked in the consul, grabbed one of the tranquilizers and reached back to place it in the carrier. Jess ate it and after a few minutes she passed out. We got to the airport ten minutes later. After waiting in the security line and a middle aged man frisking me, making me want to punch the guy square in the face, we headed towards our terminal.

I stayed up during the whole flight as Mitch slept next to me. I was looking forward to start skiing again and teaching Mitch how to use the snowboard that’s in my duffle. The plane landed and I elbowed Mitch in a pressure point to wake him up. He sat straight up and held his side in pain while trying to hold in a scream of pain.

“Sorry I guess I hit the pressure point to hard.” I said and laughed slightly.

“You know I hate it when you wake me up using pressure points. It always makes me want to scream my head off.” He said with a slightly pained expression after he was able to talk.

“Sorry but it’s hard to wake you up any other way. Plus we were about to land and I didn’t feel like leaving you on the plane and having you go to a different country.” I said as I stood up. Mitch stood up and rubbed his side as we left the lane. He stopped when we got to baggage claim and we knew our bags were next when we heard Jess’s yipping. We got our bags and the carrier then went towards the door.

“You know…I didn’t deserve this trip.” I said as Mitch and I waited for our cab outside the airport. We were sitting on our bags and I was resting my head on his shoulder.

“You do…just wait till your birthday.” He said and I looked at him. He smiled at me and as I looked forward the cab pulled up. We put the bags in the back, got in and put the carrier next to me.

The cab driver then started to drive towards the lodge.
