A shower had never felt so good in my entire life than it did today. I threw the clothes I had been wearing in a trash bag Heather gave to me because let's be honest, there was no getting the blood out.
I changed into a black tank top that had American flag lips on the front, dark blue skinny jeans and black leather half calf boots that were adorned with small black spikes. I towel dried my hair and ran a brush through it before walking out of the room.
Venus had taken the downstairs bathroom and I took the one in Heather and JJ's bedroom. The guys had, mostly, agreed that Raiden and I would share the upstairs bedroom, Draven and Venus would share the air mattress that they had set up in the baby's soon-to-be nursery and Finn would make himself comfy on the couch downstairs.
It took Draven and Finn ten minutes to discuss who would sleep on what, but in the end, Heather had enough of their bickering and told them where to sleep because and I quote, "It's my house!" They both promptly shut up and said okay while Raiden and JJ laughed at them.
I dropped my duffle bag on the floor in the bedroom before making my way downstairs. The bedroom Raiden and I would share was calming. The sheets and comforter were a deep blue that complimented the wood flooring and white walls. It had a sea effect with the seashell decorations, fish netting, and other ocean trinkets. It was relaxing to be in. I could almost picture the beach outside the window.
I passed through the living room where Finn, Heather, and Draven were sitting on the couches while Venus was sitting in Draven's lap; typical.
Venus looked at my outfit and smiled with approval, "I'm so proud!" she gushed.
"Why because I'm wearing jeans or because of the boots?" I asked unsure which part she was proud of.
"Everything! I've broken you!"
I chuckled before turning to walk down the hallway.
"So tell me something," JJ said to Raiden right as I was about to walk into the kitchen, "Are you and that Scarlett chick together?" I stopped dead in my tracks. I hadn't walked into the kitchen but I was oh so close; one more step and I would have never been able to listen in on Raiden's response. This was defiantly not something I would have thought they'd be talking about.
"No, she's a friend."
JJ let out a laugh that held no amusement, "Please, you don't have any friends and I see the way you look at her."
"Oh yeah? And how's that?"
"Like you'll do anything to protect her. When you first arrived you kept glancing at her as if to check that she was still next to you. And when she's not looking you give her the look of a lovesick puppy."
Raiden chuckled, "Are you sure you're not doing drugs anymore man? Because you're seeing things."
"But you didn't deny that I did see it," JJ responded, "So tell me, do you like her?"
"It doesn't matter if I do or not. She'd never like a guy like me and she deserves better. Besides, I don't want her involved in any of this shit more than she already is. It was a mistake to begin talking to her in the first place; look where she is now. She's a good girl, too good for our world."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"Whatever, it's not like we'd work out anyways. I don't do relationships." Raiden's response was quick.
"And I do? People change man; all it takes is the right girl. Remember when all we used to do was get drunk, fuck and leave. Then I met Heather and now look at me. I've got a loving woman who's too good for me, a nice house, and a baby on the way. If I can have it all so can you."
