Hello Everyone! This is the chapter where things really start going into the story. I'm super excited! Thanks to everyone who supports the story. I appreciate all those who read it!
"Scarlett! Wait up!" I looked over to see Raiden jogging over to me.
"What?" I asked him as I threw my stuff into my car.
"The guys and I are having a BBQ tomorrow, just us. I know they'd like it if you came too." He said leaning against my car. "They like having you around. I guess you grew on them." He said with a small chuckle.
I nodded, "Sure. It sounds like fun."
"Yeah? Great." He said, "Do you remember how to get to my house?"
I nodded, "I think I can-"
POP! POP!
Raiden and I ducked down as we heard the gun shots. Students started screaming and running as panic overtook them.
POP! POP! POP!
Finn ran into sight and looked relieved to find us. "They're here! We have to go now!" he shouted to Raiden. Raiden hesitated to leave with him as he looked at me. "Take her!" Finn shouted, "They could have seen you talking to her. They'll kill her if she doesn't go with! Come on!" he rushed away.
POP! POP!
"Fuck!" Raiden yelled and I screamed as bullets hit the car in front of us. Raiden didn't hesitate then as he grabbed my wrist and yanked me with him. "Get on!" he shouted as he started his bike up. I saw the others drive off in a separate car. Raiden practically threw me on the seat before he took off.
There was no time for helmets or questions as he took off and followed the others.
POP!
I screamed as we passed a car and its back windshield shattered. "Hold on!" Raiden yelled.
This is a bad dream. That's all this is. I'll wake up soon enough. I tried to reassure myself. But as the gun shots continued and my heart rate increased at the same rate at Raiden's driving I knew; I knew this was real. Whatever was going on and whatever was going to happen after we got away was real.
I tried not to panic as we followed the others and tried to lose the vehicle that was chasing all of us. Of course the situation could only get worse before it could get better. Isn't that usually how things go?
Whichever one of the others that was driving the car stepped on the brakes and turned so the driver's side was facing the way we just came. Raiden went around them and stopped on the other side as the vehicle chasing us turned the corner.
If I wasn't panicking before I definitely was when I saw Raiden pull a gun out from his pants and begin shooting. I covered my ears and looked over to see Draven, who was driving, and Finn, who was in the back shooting at the attackers as well.
The other car screeched against the pavement as the driver lost control and the car flipped. It landed upside down in the middle of the road. I stood there in shock as Raiden let off a few more bullets and the car caught on fire.
Satisfied, Raiden put the gun away and took off down the road like nothing had happened. Draven burned rubber as he turned the car to follow us. I couldn't do anything but hold onto Raiden like my life depended on it; in this case it did.
********
We had been driving for hours none stop except for our one stop for gas. The others kept driving and we stayed long enough to fill the bike and for Raiden to fully check me for any injuries. I was still processing everything that happened that I just let him check me with no objections.
